It will never cease to amaze me why the Stones want to share the stage with b-artists like that, but I hope the Roman crowd appreciates it. I'm just glad he didn't appear on the Pinkpop show (Nayer had a slot earlier that day..)

I think thats standard practice 'just in case'.

The same legal requirements would be required for any pro shot footage that gets used officially. Even on those useless 40-second clips they upload on you tube.

I love the option they give at the end. You can imagine hundreds or thousands of fans streaming for the exits before they hit the stage in protest at being filmed. No offer of a refund either!

If I'd know John Mayer was in the house, I would not have been hoping so hard for "Sweet Virginia" to win the fan vote. I would have known it wasn't gonna happen.

It is. But its still a reference to Julius Caesar. The Roman Empire stretched quite a bit further than the city limits!
Add in the historical connection to the Roman Empire of the venue they were playing in too, and I think the song choice was quite deliberate.

Fabio is saying 'Streets of Love' was excellent. It was very good when I saw it in 2006.

he did play on it. There was a modified setlist posted after the show which said 'with Mick Taylor' on that song.

The official facebook page posted during the show that he had played on it too.

Streets of Love does seem like an odd song to break Taylor out for but we should be happy he is getting another song. Yes SOL is an ode to Italy which started when Julius Caesar choose to cross the Rubicon and make his claim to fame.  The expression, crossing the Rubicon means that there is no going back, once the line is crossed. I'm a big fan of SOL, and I'm happy they broke out a tune from ABB!

lets face it jagger  would rather have mayer in the band than taylor. makes the average age in the band lower and has the name recognition and is a pretty boy

According to one of the you tube comments, the audio from that SOL clip isnt even from Rome - its from the Austin 2006 show on the 'Biggest Bang' DVD.

I don´t get it. They bring Taylor to play on a song he was not part of it. OK. But to bring him for a song with such mediocre guitar lines? That solo on the original is something anybody who can not play is able to do after a 30 seconds lesson. I´m looking forward to see and hear if Taylor made it a little more interesting.
