I made a last minute decision to go to Italy. Spending all my money on a Saturday night and all that. My best buddy chipped in for the air tickets. And for the love of God, I CAN'T FIND MY PASSPORT. This is ridiculous.

My dear LJ I turned the house upside down three times already. I called the police, the airport, the passport checking department of the airport... They all say nothing can be done without it and I even got scolded from a police officer for leaving it for the last minute :( Aaaaargh.

When you cant find something, think of the last time you saw it and where you were, and start looking there. I hope you find it, it has to be somewhere so keep trying!

I think that if you drive to your nearest consulate, they will issue you a new one on the spot!

Back in the '80s I lost some Keith Richards tickets. Luckily, since I paid by card, Constitution Hall had record of the purchase and gave us passes to get in. The tickets turned up later... in a shirt pocket in my closet! I still didn't remember putting them there.

I think that if you drive to your nearest consulate, they will issue you a new one on the spot!

Or else they will give you emergency papers until your new one arrives!

Immigration laws always keep changing, so I'm not sure.

I remember back in the 90's, I used to travel to Mexico with just my driver's license and a copy of my birth certificate.  No longer possible.

Similar vibe circa 1989--

New Jersey--best friend's brother has several tix to Stones Atlantic City 1989.

FG and friends in New Jersey ready to attend the AC show. 

Some Girls go to a mall in NJ, one girl has her bag stolen in shoe store...girl demands to return to Balto, MD.

Result--Some Girls and FG do not attend AC 1989,return to Balto, MD instead.   Brother Bobby attends Stones AC 1989show, and takes some girls visiting from the Phillipines.

Irony--no one in attendance really liked the Stones, but timing is everything.

So sorry Fotini. What a bummer.
