Steel biff, I don't see anyone going to jail for stealing computer speakers.  It would be incredible waste of scarce taxpayer resources to incarcerate every petty thief.  In any case, you know what to do - start building a record of conversion to Christianity (98% of judges are Christian) and a record of counseling/rehab for substance abuse, whether it's a problem or not.  Even better if you can blame prescription drugs - judges love that more than illegal drugs.  And don't get busted stealing more stuff until this gets adjudicated.  Common sense on all these points.  Shades of Winona.

You didn't read my post? Plead NOT GUILTY, make up an excuse about how you were going to pay, etc. If the store rep doesn't show up as a witness you will get off with a  fine. Tell the prosecutor you want to resolve it that day in court and bring money to pay the fine. I've been in court a lot and watched how it works. Many people get caught and do not go to jail for it.

It's really sad how drugs can ruin people's lives.  Not just the drug addict, but their whole family. 

I remember a few years back, they were warning women in Northern California to be careful.  There was a surge of meth addicts who were stealing purses to fund their habit.

Another time, I saw a documentary of this beautiful twenty-year old girl who was addicted to meth.  They did a CAT-scan of her brain and it turned out that she had holes in her brain comparable to an Alzheimer's patient!

Then, there was this heroin addict whose veins were all shot, so she would inject herself in the neck!

And, the saddest part was that she would have to prostitute herself in order to afford her habit.

Also, there was another prostitute who was HIV positive, but she didn't bother to tell her clients, because she needed the money for drugs!

P.S.  If you really feel stress, and need a little something to take the edge off, you can go to your doctor and tell him the truth.   That you're anxious and need something to help you deal with the stress!  Nothing wrong with that!
