Thanks.
The festival is available as a webcast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I88jdIE77J0 - but of course the availability of each individual act depends on contractual agreements. From memory, when Springsteen played it a couple of years ago, the webcast of his performance included about six songs at the most and it may have been (although Im not sure) aired on a delay. I would not expect the Stones to allow their entire set to be broadcast for free on youtube (and especially not so early in a tour) but its possible they may allow a few songs |

and to think that after going to see Bruce in Italy on my birthday weekend last year, I considered going to Lisbon this year to celebrate it by seeing the Stones.
33rd anniversary of my first ever Bruce show too (and still my favourite ever gig). Aaaaargh. :-) Still think 'Tumbling Dice' doesnt really suit a duet, although what small clips Ive seen of it so far suggest it was better than it was in Newark. |

I agree with Gazza that Tumbling Dice isn't a great duet number, but I actually don't think many Stones songs are. But Bruce seldom, if ever, makes a wrong move. I think he even gives Mick a boost here (dig Mick's little falsetto bits towards the end on the runway).

Better version than in Newark, for sure.
At that gig you could sort of tell that Bruce sang like he had finished a 90-date tour two days earlier and the Stones were still a bit rusty having only played five shows in five years. I like the way they used the catwalk out into the crowd this time. |

Certainly better than Newark, which was charming for sure, but seemed a bit awkward somehow - neither Bruce nor Stones to blame.
And yeah, Bruce was just there like he'd been born onstage. But I think it's more than just 90 shows for him; isn't more like 130 or something, if you factor in the start of the Wrecking Ball tour which just morphed into the High Hopes tour in SA, OZ, NZ and these last US gigs? The man needs a break, lest his back actually does break. The Stones, however...Bruce played -what: close to 200 different songs in just the last four months? Bad Stones, naughty Stones. Go to your rooms and don't come out 'til you've learned 20 more tunes (your own bloody tunes!). |

It's an interesting point. I don't think it's the songs, but I honestly don't think there is anyone out there that can keep up with Mick on a live stage. Even in the studio, I can't think of anyone who can match the soul and variety in Mick's voice. The different inflections and things he puts on things are just impossible to keep up with. It's just that people take it for granted because he has been a trailblazer in so many ways, but his first two solo albums killed the true level of greatness he deserves purely as a singer and musician. A perfect example is on Dead Flowers. Southerners don't pronounce Kentucky as Ken-tucky but if you listen to the song, you would think they do, but it's just his genius. He does that on everything. Their songs work best with instrumentalists joining in. |
