Title: Need Help Finding an Album (slight SC) Post by Throwaway on May 27th, 2014 at 5:23pm
Sigh..heard an awesome album now I cannot remember the artist or title. If anyone could help me out I'd be grateful. Released around 2010-11, cover is black and white with the artist (40-ish guy, aviator shades on)'s head, facing downward. Great vibe, almost Beggar's Banquet, clever lyrics meets some subdued twang. Artist in the vein of Robert Earl Keen, Joe Ely, Hayes Carll. One of the song's titles had something to do with cocaine (I know, doesn't exactly narrow it down)..like "White Powder Blues." Anywho, if you know the name, please post! And I'm sure other ROers would dig the album as well!

Where did you hear this album/song? That might be of some help? The race or skin tone of the artist might also help... |

Thanks for your help - artist is a 35-40year old white fellow, thin medium length hair. Was on a friend's mp3 player - I believe the artist's name is just a first/last name.

Yeah It's gotta be Steve Earle
But that Was released in 1995? But as Previous stated that song is on "I Feel Alright" "CCKMP (Cocaine Cannot Kill My Pain)" Cocaine cannot kill my pain Like a freight train through my vein Cocaine cannot kill my pain Whiskey got no hold on me Left them chains in Tennessee Whiskey got no hold on me Don't come knockin' on my door Even that won't work no more Don't come knockin' on my door Heroin is the only thing The only gift the darkness brings Heroin is the only thing Guess you'd best leave me alone At least until these blues have gone Guess you'd best leave me alone |

Not Earle..artist (I feel) is a bit more obscure than Steve Earle, more along the lines of artists like American Aquarium, Lucero (not as popular as them, however). Also, that David Guetta album cover is similar to this one - this one is a bit more of a closeup on the face, though.

Dan Auerbach (or The Black Keys)?

Not Auerbach, this guy I feel only has maybe one or two albums. My pal said he came across it on iTunes under "Listeners Also Bought" from an American Aquarium album.
