Following the release of “Beggars Banquet”, “Let It Bleed,” and “Hot Rocks: 1964-1971” now ABKCO is looking for more undeserved money with the release of “12 X 5”, “Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! The Rolling Stones in Concert” and “Through The Past, Darkly: Big Hits Vol 2.”.

Can someone explain to me the significance of "clear vinyl?
Is it just for show?
Better sound?
A money making gimmick?

And what about picture discs?
That I get...it's a picture...looks kinda cool...when not spinning...otherwise in the sleeve it goes...
how much do you really look at it...a magazine would offer more enjoyment to my sensibilities.

In my experience, picture discs sound terrible.

As for the color of the vinyl, I have Band of Gypsys on clear red vinyl and it's one of the best sounding in my collection.

I don't know if I trust an ABKCO vinyl re-release. I bought their remastered "England's Newest Hitmakers" in about 1996, and it was mastered so "hot," in order to sound current, that the bass had my stylus jumping out of the grooves and skipping across the record. I own good audio equipment, and the only times I have seen this is on badly mastered and pressed reggae records someone bought for me in Jamaica. I was so mad that I didn't sell the ABKCO LP at a used record store - I mailed it to ABKCO with my complaint, and instructed Allen Klein (then still alive) to shove it up his ass. So - buyer beware.

Money making gimmick by the bastards at ABKCO, in addtion to the sound issue mentioned above for me clear vinyl has another problem, my turntable (Technics SL-6) cannot sense the tracks
