Title: Iggy Pop mourns the passing of Stooges drummer Scott Asheton Post by Pdog on Mar 16th, 2014 at 4:56pm
Drummer Scott Asheton, who joined Iggy Pop as stalwarts in the Stooges, has died, Pop says. Asheton, who had been sidelined with medical issues even as the Stooges gathered to record without Pop, was 64.
“Scott was a great artist,” Pop says. “I have never heard anyone play the drums with more meaning than Scott Asheton. He was like my brother.” The Stooges have recorded two studio albums and toured regularly since reforming in 2003 for Coachella. They even survived the death of Scott Asheton’s brother, guitarist Ron, who was replaced by Raw Power-era member James Williamson. They last played together in September of last year, in San Jose. “He and Ron have left a huge legacy to the world,” Pop added. “The Ashetons have always been and continue to be a second family to me.” http://somethingelsereviews.com/2014/03/16/he-was-like-my-brother-iggy-pop-mourns-the-passing-of-stooges-drummer-scott-asheton/ |

swallowing small amounts of saliva for his entire life, may be the cause… all BS aside, it sucks… I gotta laugh and be glad I saw him and his brother play together... |
