Wonder if they will pull out any surprises in these rehearsals...ER was a great treat...as was CYHMK...I would hate to think that ER was just a bucket list song...She Was Hot was a real treat in 2006...that would be a welcome return...

And, Yes...thank you for the news and continued updates!!

GAZZA...have you heard anything about possible guest appearances ala 2012/13?? UAE might be lucky and get a Juliana Down/Mick Live With Me...
I could see perhaps Kamal Musallam jamming with Keef and Ronny on a rockin' tune

I'd guess that spending as little time in the UK as possible would be a tax-avoidance decision.

And Paris is pretty nearby for all of them

"The Rolling Stones are rumoured to be putting on a warm-up show on February 10th at Le Trianon concert hall in Paris.

Around 1,000 tickets are expected to be made available (presumably going on sale on the day of the gig).

In 2012, Stones played to just 600 people at the La Trabendo rock club (also in Paris), before starting their "50 And Counting" tour."

At least this rehearsal list looks more realistic and show ready. As opposed to some tours where they rehearse songs we'd love to hear. Only to ditch them once the tour starts.

True. We've seen rarities rehearsed before. Only to not be played once the tour starts. Jagger doesn't think anybody will want to hear those songs. But tanks to all responsible for the reports. Always fun to read.

I've oft pondered why in Bro' Sugar [not yet played at the 2014 rehearsals] "cold English blood runs hot" yet in Dance Lil Sis the bold (negrescent) lady high-kicking (or the sight it exposes?) "make my blood run cold".

But what is more important, shirley, is that they re-explore the saucy 'Hey Negrita' in earnest.

Surprised nobody commented on Streets Of Love...

Was there anything from ABB played last year?? I cant recall.
I saw them play SOL in AC in 06...it sounded really tight.
I think I recall Charlie saying he enjoys it when they play it...
gives him a bit of a breather and he enjoys the crowd sing-a-long

Thanks for these great updates. I hope they really bring some of these songs to life and not just tease us mercilessly with the rehearsals.

How right does it look to see him :wow with the band on a regular basis. I just wish they would give us what we all want and make it a three guitar band. He could add so much magic to songs like Far Away Eyes and countless others that he never played on.

Re. the lyrical climax of 'Streets Of Love'...
it's questionable whether one could be drenched in tears, strictly speaking. A love letter, or perhaps the eye-balls, could be drenched.

Does anyone have figures on on how long, and moistly, one would have weep, in order to become literally drenched in tears?

Apologies. But I'd be interested if anyone has precise stats on how many hundreds of pedestrian weepers it would take to moisturise pavements to the extent that they can be rightly described as drenched.
Is it possible that some folk in the song are simply urinating in their trousers?
Or perhaps the lyric is misreported and Michael, describing the streets of Richmond on a Friday night, was simply crooning 'drenched with beers'.

Is it certain that the Welwyn Garden Wizard played on TTNG at rehearsals? As it was the last ditty Taylor played on (in 1974), I imagine a few mind-games were going on (this time around), and they might even have started playing it while it was off in the loo / at the tea table, or something.
All grist to the miller.

I think SOL is a lock considering how many times they have played it in rehersals...not that TTNG won't...because SMU was only practised once and you KNOW it will be there somewhere...(whhhyyyy...oh whhhyyyyy do the gods loath me so?!?)

YES...vive le Mick...Long Live Mick...but what do we really mean by that??
Looking at this picture I can't help but wonder WHAT really drives this
man?

While he deserves no pity, I do feel for him...at 70 years old, it should not be too long that he should just be sipping tea at his country estate, thinking about the next football match and reading the financial times...and really relaxing and enjoying the fruits of his labor....as well as the fruits of others!!

While I am not comparing the Stones to the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir many times had stated that the GD machine was so well oiled that it became apparent that their 500+ employees, most with families to support, would be essentially laid off and out of work had the GD machine stopped touring...
This is not the case with the Stones...all their peeps work while not touring ( I just saw Lisa, for example, singing back up for Nine Inch Nails (best indoor show I have seen since Prince 2010)...Do I want them to stop? Simple answer is NO. Would I be upset if they did, simple answer is NO. Do I want to see them one last time? YESSSS!!!!!

There's one over at IORR. No revelations or brilliant insights, but worth a look.

Hmmm. Let's try to understand this...

He runs their biggest fan site. He stands out in the rain
and cold religiously for two weeks in hopes of getting
admitted into the rehearsals. But absolutely no one in
the Stones camp slips him the word on when and
where to position himself, so he misses out and looks
like a fool.

I'd like to think this is a giant purposeful dis for him
from the Stones, because of the increasingly
unbalanced way he was running the fan site.
Can you imagine? He bans anyone talking exactly
the way Mick and Keith talk about marijuana, that is,
realistically, because he doesn't want anyone to
associate (his) Stones fans with it. He bans a thread
on favorite records of the 1950s, even if they are the
exact same tunes that inspired Mick and Keith in the
first place, apparently because he doesn't want
anyone to think that (his) Stones fans might skew a
bit on the old side.  He bans any talk of Taylor's
weight or temperment or possible career mistakes.

He's even gone so far as to tightly restrict talk about
the ticket prices, or comparisons with how Bruce
does things...

And has anyone EVER heard him admire a piece of
music that was not by the Stones? How can you be a
big Stones fan and not be a big fan of lots of
different music? When he was asked his giant Stones
fantasy, it was to go out running with Mick ?!?

Then there's this bizarre claim to have two million
people visiting his Stones site, when the real number
is maybe 60 thousand.

So yeah, I'm hoping what happened in Paris was a
purposeful dis from the Stones. But if its just a case
of this voodoo doll I bought starting to work, so be it.

Aqui la nota completa:

A PLANE being used by global super group the Rolling Stones has been photographed at Manston.

The craft, captured on camera by Simon Moores and TG Aviation, was given a make-over at the airport with the Rolling Stones decals.

The decals were made and applied by talented Margate man Alex Dobbs.

Mr Dobbs is an engineer with Air Atlanta Icelandic.

Writing on the Isle of Thanet Gazette Facebook page he said he was "very happy with the result."

The work inn action was also caught on camera by Broadstairs man Simon Piggott who was in the hangar when the art work was applied.

The Boeing 767 was worked on in a hangar at Manston owned by AvMan Engineering. The aircraft is owned by Aeronexus Corp.

The plane is going on to Paris to pick up passengers and will then head to Abu Dhabi where the Stones are performing at the Du Arena on February 21.

Jagger's a bit disposed towards Arsenal, as far as I'm aware.

However, as Charlie is a big fan of Tottenham, their traditional rivals, this may see him leaving the band in a huff before they arrive in Australia, proving Paul Cashmere's prediction from about six years ago that if they toured Oz again it wouldnt be with Charlie to be correct.

that's our man! When the Stones - and Charlie - actually went to the trouble of publicly stating it was rubbish he still insisted his source was impeccable and that he'd be proven right when the Stones toured again, as they'd have a different drummer.

Took some digging, and I got sidetracked by finding some hilariously insane threads I'd forgotten about, but here's the original story from September 2009.

http://rocksoff.org/cgi-bin/messageboard/YaBB.pl?num=1251877030/0#0

Looking at that thread from about the halfway point, its interesting in hindsight how accurate we were in guessing the way future Stones tours would pan out (even if we had to wait until 2012 instead of 2010 for them to perform again)

I hear they come for you at night....

Now for the pressing questions:

Will they play SFTD in Abu Dhabi? And given Keith's solos lately, is that a bad thing?

Was Silver Train rehearsed just to have something that would clear Chinese censors? And is that a good thing?

Will the setlist get mixed up in songs 5,6 & 7 or just songs 5 & 6?

How do you spell tarp in Japanese?

Can Moonlight Mile survive the curse of the plink?

Which Stone will trip over their scarf first?

Will Keith still be glad to be anywhere?

The answers to these and more awaits.

Some twat said something insulting to me there and I responded in kind and I was permanently banned. I guess it's about who you know in some websites. The thing I chuckled about is the whole "security" thing about not revealing where the rehearsals are and for the band's privacy even though it was already all over the web and then Ronnie reveals it in an interview. After all that, he's not let in. Poetic justice.
