The better reading of that is that he is not comparing Croatians to Germans, rather saying that victims can sense those who assaulted their ancestors, and then he gave examples of that phenomena. In any case, while France apparently doesn't have any type of legal equivalent to the U.S.' First Amendment, surely Dylan can plead the truth and be exonerated. Jews can sense Germans. I had a Jewish girlfriend once, and she always knew when Germans were around. She wouldn't even let me patronize drug dealers who wore Adidas.

I hope Dylan fights this. France needs to reevaulate application of whatever law that is (and whether they should have it at all). I can't imagine its supposed to cover a situation like this, where a foreigner (who like Gazza said is simultaneously being given a prestigious honor), is charged for remarks made in a foreign country, the remarks can be construed in a variety of ways, and no one can prove the remarks aren't accurate.

In the meantime, its back to Freedom Fries for me!
