Giving extra thanks this year for the two Stones shows I was blessed to see in Chicago and DC and especially for my beloved RO'ers who shared the experience with me.

today is the start of hanukkah… be glad jews do not treat it like xmas, and you have to suffer with a build up, that destroys thanksgiving and halloween...

This is great. Good job with this. I'm for this.

The Puritans and the Indians put aside their political differences to have dinner together. It can be done, and we should all learn from it today in America. I'm sure it wasn't much of a party, because Puritans are complete geeks and Indians are notoriously terrible boozers, but that's not the point. They came together as Americans when it was on the line.

We got Thanksgiving thanks to the English. Come on over if you want some.

By the President of the United States of America, a
Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge
the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to
be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his

States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be

their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold
mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his
Providence which we experienced in the course and
conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of
tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since
enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in
which we have been enabled to establish
constitutions of government for our safety and
happiness, and particularly the national One now
lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with
which we are blessed; and the means we have of
acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in
general for all the great and various favors which he
hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly
offering our prayers and supplications to the great
Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon
our national and other transgressions-- to enable us
all, whether in public or private stations, to perform
our several and relative duties properly and
punctually--to render our national government a
blessing to all the people, by constantly being a
Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws,
discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to
protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations
(especially such as have shown kindness unto us)
and to bless them with good government, peace,
and concord--To promote the knowledge and
practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase
of science among them and us--and generally to
grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal
prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Good catch on the prayer demand. Moj. The Puritans and Indians may have prayed to different colored gods, and we may disagree which one is adequately proved up, but the point is they jointly prayed for America. We should be perspicacious and do so as well, as Americans.

This Thanksgiving SS and I are listening to Lenny Bruce routines and came across
this fun fact: Keith Richards, a well-known Lenny Bruce fan, took the line "The pool's
in but the patio ain't dry" from this performance.

This is the key Washtonian Thanksgiving language conveniently overlooked by liberals. This is why we've been able to defeat the Germans every time they start a world war/genocide. Note "his Providence" - some among us know to take heed/cover when Him come calling. See, e.g., Papa Legba. See also Leviticus 19:26 and Revelation 21:8.

The Puritans shared a lot of the Indians: (1) maniacal temperance, which unfortunately or fortunately (depending on your view of alcohol) never sunk in, (2) the missionary position, (3) crop rotation technology. So there were many blessings shared. The feast is rumored to have gone on for 4 days - hence the long holiday weekend we now have. This is day 2, and many Americans will spend the day drinking in celebration of all this.
