Title: New TASCHEN book
Post by Madafaka on Nov 12th, 2013 at 7:35am

Ladies and gentlemen... the Rolling Stones!
The definitive authorized illustrated history of the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band

The kind of fame and success the Rolling Stones have achieved in their 50-year career is completely without parallel; their most famous riffs and catchiest lyrics are indelibly engraved in our collective memory. With their bluesy rock ‘n’ roll and mesmerizing stage presence, the Stones redefined the music of the 1960s and paved the way for rock as we know it today. Produced in collaboration with the band, this book charts the Stones’ remarkable history and outrageously cool lifestyle in around 600 pages of photographs and illustrations, many previously unseen, gathered from archives all over the world. Unprecedented access to the Rolling Stones’ own archives in New York and London adds an equally extraordinary, more private side to the Stones’ story.

Features:

Around 600 pages of incredible images featuring some of the world’s greatest photographers such as Helmut Newton, David Bailey, Norman Parkinson, Gered Mankowitz, Annie Leibovitz, and Anton Corbijn
Illustrations include tour posters, concert programs, record-sleeve art, and memorabilia from every stage of their long and illustrious career
A foreword written by President Bill Clinton
Three new essays from award-winning writers Luc Sante, Waldemar Januszczak, and David Dalton
Appendix including Stones in the media, a Stones timeline, discography, and photographers’ biographies

Limited Collector's Edition, all copies numbered and signed by Mick, Keith, Charlie, and Ronnie!

The editor:
Reuel Golden graduated in politics from the University of Sussex, England, and is the former editor of the British Journal of Photography and executive editor at Photo District News. He has edited on titles including both New York, and London, Portrait of a City, Her Majesty, and Harry Benson. The Beatles.

Saw this in the Taschen magazine. 2 full page spread.
But could there possibly be anything new?

Why does a politician write the forward? Is there not a rock journalist capable of the task?

Hey Clinton is famous...I think he was a governor once somewhere...besides have you seen those dumb comments written over the pictures in Creem? Who needs rock writers

'Personally signed' or 'autopenned', as was the case for most copies of 'Life' which were signed without the buyer witnessing it?

That's just one more feather in the mouth of the Stones, their incredible career and fame - U.S. Presidents write intros to their books.  Who would have ever thought such a thing would happen?  The Stones will end up bigger than Jesus by the end of this century - book it.

That gives me the strange urge to burn their records in the middle of a street somewhere...
