For some reason this girl has been everywhere this week. I normally listen to vinyl records and steer clear of anything in the musical mainstream.

The backlash over her performance is insane. Some African Americans are calling it racist. The dance she does, the Twerk dance, is African in nature and it offended a lot of people. Here's a video of East Africans doing the dance:

I watched it live and felt genuinely creepy during her performance.

Only interested in seeing my girl Gaga who seemed tame in comparison to Miss Miley.

I quickly changed channels.

I'm no prude and really could care less. But some folks have a legit point that it should have not been rated as ok for 14 year olds. Parents who put ratings blocks on TVs are rightly mad that this was shown to kids. Her dad is a mullet head so she comes by it naturally!

it's a non event, non story IMO… the media creates something from it, and we could have a media teaching us, informing us, instead we are bombarded with this… it at best was an entertainment blurb, not meant for headline news… it is good for jokes, but I can't say it enough, besides comedians and late night talk shows, this is a waste of media outlets time, and makes me sad that it is covered so much…
on a personal note I always enjoys sexy things, she a good job, but far from great… and I like the tongue be stuck out, it was far sexier than her un-plump ass. I'm a man who can't lie, I like big butts!!!

just like Mick has done. It is absolutely hilarious that there
is a Stones fan posting above that is bothered by a stuck-out
tongue. Even more hilarious, from my perspective, is that
various "serious" commentators have accused her of
"appropriating black culture for her own financial benefit".
LOL the same rap that has often been laid on the Stones!
But at least Miley regularly puts out new material, and
doesn't just endlessly recycle Hannah Montana.

Interesting article, but I don't think there was any harm intended in a racial sense and nor do I believe that there is anything remotely racial in the performance.

IMO, the problem with problem with the performance can be summed-up fairly simply: Miley Cyrus is not attractive. She is not remotely hot in the slightest. Same goes for Ga Ga.

If you watch Robin THICK's (love that name) video, the girls in it have on the same outfits and are doing sexy stuff to Robin so I dont see why Miley's performance is taking so much heat. She was only trying to act sexy ~ my biggest complaint is that she just is NOT sexy at all, no tits or ass, and she isnt a great dancer or singer. She got famous because her dad who got her into the business, and she was lucky to get a DIsney gig. Not a fan but I dont think she did anything wrong.

I don't hate her I just don't think she is sexy. To me her figure looks boyish. Take JLo or Rihanna, both wear skimpy outfits and ooze sex without acting raunchy. Not that I'm against raunchy.
