Title: Omaheimed
Post by Brainbell Jangler on Jun 22nd, 2013 at 11:19pm
While I was glad to get to see them one more (last?) time and delighted that so many of you got great shows and setlists, I am convinced that Anaheim 2 was the Omaha of this tour.  My case:
1. No "Emotional Rescue" (howe many other shows missed that?).
2. A warhorse ("Wild Horses") for the ballad.
3. No online selection.
4. "You Got Me Rocking".
Does anyone dispute my conclusion?
Brainy

They didn't get Worried 'Bout U played to exquisite perfection at Anaheim II, or Flo Welch strutting like a seriously strutty thing, or a guest star with especially impressive conkers?
Probably, though, a blistering unfolding of Brown Shug and assorted others.
The lady (and Gazza?) does protest too much?
As these are prob the last shows since later in the year, or something, let's for gawd sake let's drop our trou's and get jiggy and jiggly with it.

As an observation, wouldn't JJF, BS, TD, SMU all be considered Warhorse material, with Wild Horses being considered a tour rarity?

Wild Horses doesnt get played much at all. Hardly a warhorse.

Me not protesteth, Waitering....

The 'Omaha'd' thing is a bit misleading. When they played there in 2006, they did actually play 'As Tears Go By'.

The ultimate 'Omaha'd' show in recent years was probably the Hard Rock gig in Vegas on 29 November 2002, the night before they played the MGM. All the theatre shows on that tour cost something like $60 for a ticket and most of the show consisted of deep cuts and soul covers. For this show, the tickets were priced  between $600 and $1,000.

The setlist was a tad uninspiring.

Not too many complained publicly. No one likes admitted that they paid ten times the going rate to be Omaha'd.

Not played at LA 2 either.

I get the impression it was one of those 'variable' selections that was going to be rotated in and out of the set at places where they were playing more than one night.

And then it proved to be more popular than they thought it would be so they ended up keeping it in - playing it at all three Chicago shows would appear to indicate that.

Agreed. Wild Horses is one of my favorite Stones tunes. Would have loved to hear that.Otherwise I agree with Brainy's other points. But on the whole. It seems this tour's legacy will be..........Well they didn't fuck it up.
