Last chance I'll get to do this for any shows in the U.S. At least for now.
Song vote choices are up: CYHMK Shine A Light Moonlight Mile Some Girls Fool To Cry A tough one. I went with Moonlight Mile. |

CYHMK shouldn't even be on that list...it should be a given!!!
Yeah LJ, MM for sure...don't know why...but, except for maybe SG, I feel the others will be lost on the crowd. |

I'll take any of the above.

Why in the world is CYHMK on that list?? No doubt it's going to win the vote...but that cheats us from actually hearing another song they haven't done before (assuming that this vote thing is actually legit).
I would've loved "Moonlight Mile" or "Fool To Cry." |

Rather lovely ditties, every one of them. So they must be taking the piss, shirley?
Did they rehearse 'Fool'? Whether they did or not, it could be well worth re-exploring it, 2013-stylee, during the next week or two? Cookin'. |

Anyone who, when confronted with that list votes for Fool to Cry - especially knowing Taylor is in the wings - should be horse-whipped. Saying that, they'll rig the vote if they have to. Theyve done it a few times already when they just happened to have a special guest in the wings who was able to run out and duet on the winning song! |

Title: Re: Philly II, June 21-Setlist, Pics, Reviews, Vids, Mug Shots Post by Justin on Jun 21st, 2013 at 5:31pm
This would mean they would have actually had to rehearse "Moonlight Mile" with the extended outro. When they did it back in '99...the outro was nixed completely. It was easy to put in Taylor on CYHMK because they just switched out Ronnie for Taylor...it didn't really effect the band. For "Moonlight Mile"...there is a rather delicate way Taylor comes in at the end, I'm not sure they are willing/able to recreate that today.
If the Stones do "Moonlight Mile" tonight and if they have Taylor play it...I'd bet they'd insert the solo smack dab in the middle of the song rather than at the end where it's supposed to be. I can see Jagger make the executive decision to switch it around just to make it easier for the entire band to accommodate Taylor without having to learn new parts. And it won't be pretty. |

the studio version is probably one of the worst Stones' releases ever, but this is a pretty inspired choice for a live show and I'm looking forward to hearing last night's version.
First live performance since Singapore in February 1965. By my reckoning the longest gap ever between two live performances of the same song by the Stones. And possibly any rock act for that matter? |

To get some perspective of how long ago they last played this.
About two weeks after they last performed that song, they released 'The Last Time' as a single and the Beatles released 'Ticket to Ride'. Bob Dylan was just about to go on his final 'solo' tour before he went electric that summer A few weeks earlier, Winston Churchill had died and Lyndon B Johnson had been sworn in for a second term as US President. Malcolm X would be assassinated a few days later. |

Title: Re: Philly II, June 21-Setlist, Pics, Reviews, Vids, Mug Shots Post by Steel Wheels on Jun 22nd, 2013 at 8:30am
What a thrill it was last night to see the Stones again. My evening started off by getting in the lottery line and quickly getting my second set of nosebleeds. I'll be honest - I was bummed out for a few minutes. I had dreams of being in the pit, but don't we all? It wasn't meant to be, but at the cheap price of 85 bucks a seat I was thankful to be in the same room as the Rolling Stones even if it was side view/obstructed view.
My section had it's share of aging, angry "fans" bitching about the seats, the view, the prices, the setlist and everything else. I actually asked one person why they bothered to show up. With so much negativity, I decided that I could do only one thing - support my heroes by dancing harder than every before, singing along to every single song and cheering as loud as I could. So I did. Get Off of My Cloud was very uptempo. Keith's great guitar chops were very noticeable from the first riff. IORR was full on Keef. His Chuck Berry idolization was on! Some things don't come across on cell phone videos, but he provides so many cool and tasty licks to this song. You must be at a Stones concert to get the full effect. Paint it Black was very strong. That lead into Gimme Shelter, which ended up having an amazing jam at the end. I saw Mick duck towards Charlie's drum kit to blow his nose several times, leaving the ancient art of weaving to cover for him. And what a killer job they did. Under the Boardwalk is a regional favorite. You don't grow up around here and not know the song by heart by the time you are 5 years old. The entire place knew every single word and sang so loudly that Aaron Neville could hardly be heard at times. His voice was so amazing and it was wonderful to watch him perform with the Stones. WTWCD was up next - they turned it into an even harder, rockier version than I've heard them do it in the past. it was very punk rock and I heard elements of Oh No! Not You Again in there. Once again, I don't think that will be evident in YouTube videos, but I caught a strong similarity between the two. Emotional Rescue was so god damn good. Darryl kills it on bass. I tend to think he flavored the song with some "Love Train" (another regional favorite). Maybe I'm just going insane, but I could feel a touch of it in there. Doom and Gloom has a strange sound effect going up to the point in which Mick hands off the guitar. The first night I thought he had guitar problems, which prompted him to pass off the guitar, but he did the same thing last night. To my ears it's some sort of digital effect that they need to get rid of. An effect shouldn't sound like a guitar with electrical issues. One More Shot had Keef go out to center stage to rip into that beautiful open g magic. I love the song, especially when he does the background vocals. These two new songs are great to hear in concert. I love them. I saw MT milling around backstage and knew he was up next. CYHMK was so good. You just had to be there. All of those beautiful vintage guitars, and Keith was very very strong on the signature riff. Again, Keith is playing beautifully in Philly. It's a sheer pleasure to listen to him. MT nailed his signature solo. HTW took the energy to the next level. I don't know what it is about Keith, but Jesus he is sounding better than I've ever heard him play. It was at this point in the show when I turned to my girl and said "I've got to get better at my guitar!" You Got The Silver was very good. I saw them getting the Happy guitar and Ronnie's guitar ready, so I knew Happy was up next. I raised my Stones hat with the Mary button into the air. Mary would have loved it. She is greatly missed. It was around this point that I began to levitate. I let the power and the soul and the energy of the Rolling Stones take over and I just went elsewhere. It was a very emotional remainder of the evening as I watched my heroes not only perform, but absolutely kill it on stage. I'm sure Lady Jane knows what I'm talking about. She's my Stones sister! At the end of the show, a simple message comes up on the big screens from the band thanking the fans for their many years of support. That really got to me. The Rolling Stones have gotten me through everything. And for that, I'll love them till I'm gone. |

SV! That's a very nice shot.
It was a real pleasure talking with SV, Bitch, Glencar, and Maxmeister before the show. I even got a glimpse of the tonguelady having her photo taken with two of Philly's finest..interesting. My take on the show is that the Stones are playing very well. Great to see the guitarists sober and playing sharp. Bobby Keys, what can you say, simply incredible. I went to the show with four 23 year olds, none of whom had seen the Stones before, so it was interesting to see their response to the various songs. Everything being fresh to them. Their highlights were the two Mick Taylor songs, CYHMK and MR. The Stones really should let him play a little more. It is very evident from Charlie's expressions and smiles that he enjoys having MT on stage. Where the Stones lost these young men was from ER through the two new songs. Thank you Keith for the solo in Saisfaction. Though I do think MT should be allowed a solo as well in this song. He's just onstage strumming along, very disappointing, for me anyway. I'd like to think, in my own mind at least, that "Under the Boardwalk" was a very fitting song for me to remember Daryl by. Those of you that knew her knew of her passion in the early days for Asbury Park and the E Street Band. A very fitting song for her. First time in 48 years, amazing. Thank you Stones! |

Wow what a night in Philly, Stones blew the doors off! My $85's sucked so I tried to self upgrade twice but there were no empty seats anywhere in the lowers. I found a spot in the aisle and just stood there all night with no seat at all! It was great fun and I was so happy the show was unbelievable, they are on a 50 Year high, Ronnie just keeps getting better, rock and roll in its truest sense MICK is nonstop motion, Charlie is amazing, and KEEF was eating it all up and loving every minute. The whole show was afvckingmazing my last show of the 50 and Counting Tour so it was all so bittersweet, I never want this to end. I was hoping for DC but that isn't likely at this point. I took 10 videos, the most of any show since I was thinking it really could be the last time. I see no reason for them to stop because they really have their act together perfectly except I imagine they need a rest after all the traveling and concentration and energy spent. The Stones are truly incredible to be able to do what they have done last night. Philly crowd loved them, they were singing along and cheering them on the entire night and at the end I have never heard a louder applause from any audience anywhere.
