Title: The Problem Post by nankerphelge on Jun 11th, 2013 at 6:57am
I knew it would be as soon as I got the Philly 6/18 tickets.
I have suffered with it all my life. Like one of those programmable reminders on your cell phone calendar, my brain is wired to send a reminder of a Stones show exactly one week from the show. I wake up, and my brain says " :weedHey no need to go to work this week....the Stones show is almost here. :boozeCrack a cold one" But a week is too far out. I have too many things to do. Can't allow my Stones alarm to take full control. Somehow I need to reprogram that whole reminder for like just one day out from the show. But the real issue this time out is that the day before the Philly show, I will get the reminder for the 6/24 DC show. So Monday 6/17 I will be under both reminders. That's when my brain says "go ahead, take some more clothes off, you actually look good for your age :kissmyass" |

I know that feeling nanky. The week before we left the UK for the Chicago shows was the longest ever. Literally it was back to a kid before Christmas....."how many more sleeps?" !!!

There is no hope for you now, my friend.
I know you well enough by now to know that from this point forward you must give up all good intentions of working and being responsible. It is out of your hands. The Band has taken over. :perverted :wtf1 :areyoufuckingserious :aimama You are in full blown Stones mode and there is no cure except to :weed :booze :keithpunky :pullanolte. :weed See you on the 22nd!!!! :paristhong |

I'm sure there is a name for it in clinical psychology circles.
:pullanolte Stones Assisted Concentration Knockout or SACK for short. You know, like "I can't work this week, my SACK is acting up" "Sure I'll be in just as soon as my SACK loosens up some" "Boss, I'm having a SACK breakout and I need some time off" "Hey nank, you okay....someone said your SACK was flaring up again" http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSYzig-7SFisSBCy-hMru7_Qt8lPhYBM4Hu_79Y4kEHw4Um-IR_8Q |

Sometimes when your SACK flares up, you need to get a little undressed. |

I've got 1 month & 2 days before Hyde & somehow i don't think work is gonig to keep my mind occupied till then.
So i think i'll just try some alcohol instead. |
|
Title: Re: The Problem Post by nankerphelge on Jun 11th, 2013 at 10:45am
All alcohol does is inflame my SACK.
If you've ever suffered from a SACK problem, believe me when I say the last thing you want to do is introduce alcohol. Exascerbation of the SACK can lead to blindness....or so I hear... |

I was pretty useless myself, outside the world of the Rolling Stones, from about the 3rd week of April thru the 20th of May. Fortunately, before the first show, I was able to spend a few days with my friends from Australia who flew up to the West Coast to catch 3 shows. :retarded :wtf1 :aimama :areyoufuckingserious :smilemick

Well you guys had the added burden of rehearsals in your backyard.
My SACK would have acted up for weeks if that were the case. I give you a lot of credit for being even remotely functional during a massive SACK attack! |

What I need to do is speak to some of our friends down under.
I hear in Australia, you can get these handy "pouches" to carry medicine. That would go a long way to relieving my SACK... http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQChhEIsAe3C4EemW-LEkFSmLSBgfyMeJQE-ub_wbh-RLZDODhM |

Title: Re: The Problem Post by nankerphelge on Jun 11th, 2013 at 7:43pm
My SACK gets worse at night.
:Youmakeagrownmancrylikejoey I did relatively little today. Noticed that the stage set-up this tour is kind of a hybrid between 1978's studium tongue and the stripped down look of No Security. Obviously, the aspect ratio of the length vs. width of the structures varies depending on the venue. And the electrical requirements for a stadium show in 1978 are far different than those of 1999. The flow and the dynaflow, and the ballast are all different. Audio anomolies and physical protruberances aside, the general configurations...very similar. Hints of reverb and overdrives.. I should make a drink... |

This a very common problem associated with having chronic Stonesitis. This flare up or problem as you call it is quite common, happening occasionally and periodically more often. Fortunately there is no cure but taking in a live Stones gig will calm the symptoms quite dramatically. As you know, along with this comes "the tingle". If you haven't experienced it at this point, hold on cause it's coming. Rick |

Title: Re: The Problem Post by nankerphelge on Jun 11th, 2013 at 8:31pm
My first copy of Let It Bleed, vinyl circa 1979, had a purple sleeve.
That was unusual since the sleeve rarely had anything going, but Let It Bleed had all the notes on the sleeve. That was purple on the flip side. :whydontcha |

Title: Re: The Problem Post by nankerphelge on Jun 11th, 2013 at 8:56pm
Did you ever notice that on Get Yer Ya Yas Out, between Midnight Rambler and Sympathy you can hear that girl....or a very feminine guy... say "Keith, Paint it Black" Have you heard that?
And then on the live release Flashpoint, between the songs Ruby Tuesday and You Cain't Always Git What You Want, you can hear the same girl ... or very feminine guy.... they dubbed it in, it's not the same person at a different show.....have you ever noticed that?? And I have been listening all night, tonight, to ah.......albums. And you know that part in Love You Live, the El Mocambo part, where the guy yells "Hey Mick Jagger - common let the good times roll!"' Yeah I can hear that everywhere. Anyone else hear that? |

Glad you can relate.
It is a potent affliction I had to go into work today. My boss wanted to talk to me -- never a good sign. Usually bosses want to talk to you about something you did wrong, or late, or too expensively, or all of the above. But he's the boss, and frankly a very good guy, and so we went to lunch. First thing I see, some dude walking across the street wearing a U.S. Flag/Stones tongue T-shirt from what looked like 1994. That helps. Still hearing "Hey Mick Jagger....wooooooooo.....c'mon let the good times roll!" Then the boss even asked me about the up coming show. I tried to hide my enthusiasm ... but it was impossible. Explained how I was taking my two daughters, and how amazing the band is ...living legends....and the catalog. I'm shot for the day. |

Show nights are particularly tough on the SACK.
Because I know the show is happening somewhere, and yet I am not there. And I just pace. I walk around, ignore others, and mumble lyrics. I ache. My SACK is killing me. People are there having fun, you see the pictures and you hear clips, and why do I have to wait so long to ease the pain..... :smoking :smoking :smoking :pukey |

Title: Re: The Problem Post by nankerphelge on Jun 13th, 2013 at 12:12pm
Lost power last night.
I think I damaged the grid. I was jamming to Gimme Shelter. Lights flickered. Fridge compressor blew up. Next thing I know, electric company guys with flashlights milling about my yard at 2 am. Fried the meter apparently. Overheard one of the guys say something about the burning smell in the air. Tonight I am gonna jam Can't You Hear Me Knockin' While I was sitting there in the dark, I thought about taking a pair of adjustable depends and modifying them as seven-day turtleneck diapers. That way, the whole Philly through DC week is covered.... |

Full blown meltdown today at work.
International incident type thing.Embassies and dipshitlomats are sure to be here soon. Three smelly NSA guys are all laughing in a van nearby, I am certain. So yeah my week is over. And it has been a Biblical week, let me tell you. Seriously on Sunday...a typical muggy Virginia spring day, we had a swarm of what I believe were termites. Thousands of them come out of the mulch, lose their wings, mate, and then seek a place to colonize. Sorta like Stones fans around tour time. Anyway -- so we had that. Monday, we had torrential rain. Rained like 6 inches here, and the casa is a bit, shall I say, in nature's way! We had flooding. So bugs, flooding....what else. Well, as I mentioned, we had the power issue on Wednesday when I was jammin up the grid. The lights were flickering and dimming like Budapest circa 1962. Yesterday, we had bad storms blow through and knocked yet another tree down -- didn't hit the house but crushed the fence again (hit last year by a tree). Today is beautiful. Gorgeous weekend line up and that is great news since my man TomL is coming up tonight so we can work up battle plans for the next 2 weeks! My SACK is gonna loosenup tonight, I can tell you that. |

Tonight I pulled out all of my Stones T-shirts.
I lined them all up and looked at them all and decided what to wear for Philly, and DC, and everything in between. Since tar is melting out of the asphalt in the Philly area, I am avoiding the black shirts, which is too bad because some of my favorites are black. So I am left with a lot of light colors and white. Still digging my Ottowa 2005 -- the one with the Mountie in drag with a Telecaster! It got yanked pretty quick 8 years ago.... |

Did you know a Moroccan, a Wasp and a Jew played on Shattered? Did you know that.
A person from Morocco, a white anglo-saxon protestant type when those people could work in the industry, and a Jew. Not sure if the Jew was from Israel or was actually a practicing Jew in the religious sense, but I think we can all agree that Shattered was the last song on Some Girls. Can we at least agree on that? |

Joey you should see my to-do list for this weekend.
It is crazy I have to pick up crab mallets so people can smash their crabs this weekend. I have to blow up all the air matressess for the Stones nomads ("Stomads"?) that will be passing out here at the casa throughout the weekend. Have to clean the house -- it is a mess. I got two guitars with busted strings -- gotta get that taken care of. I got a Stones banner to hang. Food and liquor run. Gotta get all the Tiki torches filled up. Gotta get the Eldorado washed. All that with an inflamed SACK. Very distressing.... |
