The song, to me, is so subtle that I'm not sure it would work at all in an arena. It's a perfect song for a club and one they should have done over this weekend. But I still welcome it any time they'd like to play it. It'd be real nice if Ronnie hopped on bass for that one.

I think it will be one of those songs that they play sporadically. Some shows get it, others won't. It will be talked about like this:
"I saw them do Emotional Rescue in Chicago!" "What show did you see? I was there the 2nd night and they didn't do it." "They did it the 3rd night." OR: "I saw them 5 times on this tour, but the only time I heard them do Emotional Rescue was in Vegas." |

A song that is 50% falsetto is likely not a warhorse ever, let alone 2013. But it had gotten enough practice that I bet you will hear it a few times. And frankly, I'd rather hear the Rice Krispies jingle... |

Very different discussion. ER the album is a different story. Some mighy good Stones in there. Some mighty bad too. They wanna play Where the Boys Go, or Summer Romance, Send It to Me, Let me Go.... fine wid it. But those cocaine-fueled songs shall not be played. If they want to play Down in the Hole - ALL FOR IT. HAVE BEEN SINCE 1980. When did they last play it? NEVER!!!! If they play Indian Girl, 25% of the audience will flatline and the remainder will suffer from PTSD for years. All About You causes seizures. Proven Medical Fact; FDA Bulletin # S42Six (1980). Dance Part Whatever - zzzzzzzz. {EDIT} Okay, okay listening to it now, and it is good. Better than ER. But hasn't been rehearsed has it? And She's So Cold! C'mon -- so much better on that overlooked album. |

I'm amazed they're even trying it.
Mick doesnt have the vocal range to do that falsetto anymore without it sounding painful (compare 'Worried About You' from the last tour to the tours that preceded it - whereas previously he could hit the high notes, on the Bang tour he had to screech and yell for dramatic effect in order to do so) Its a natural process that when you get older you cant hit the same high notes as easily. Fair play to them for digging it out and having a go, though if they choose to do so. Its not a song I like (even though its musically superb) but its good that theyre making the effort to try something different. Dont expect it to be played anything more than occasionally. Mick chooses songs each night to suit how his voice feels, and he's not going to risk blowing his voice out by doing too many ballads or especially songs in a high register. |

ER needs heavy support from the back-up singers on the Woo-hoo-hoos, with Mick only singing the actual words, and joining in just a bit on the falsettos. But with the back-up singers carrying the melody, ER could be pulled off. They pulled off Love Train, yes?

ER is a much more dynamic falsetto then Worried About You which Mick didn't always sound so hot on.... I like evryone else would love to hear them give it a shot, but the time to really give it thunder probably ended in the 80's... |
