It's "swiss" aka "limeginger" from various Stones boards - tho I don't post much lately - in San Francisco.

Who's going to Oakland? Wanna get together? Anyone doing anything about that yet, meaning, planning etc?

A friend owns a super cool restaurant/bar not far from the venue (10-minute drive OR 2 BART train stops away from Oracle Arena).

It's called Disco Volante. They generally close after Sunday brunch BUT will consider staying open Sunday May 5th for us---giving us the run of the place--just Stones fans.

Not saying the place is cool because the owner's my friend. I became friends with him BECAUSE he's cool and this is such a cool spot.

I'll betcha Stones tunes can be played--there's great food---fab vibe--awesome drinks---no TV--tons of on-street parking OR 1.5 block walk from the BART train. What think?

I need to give him a sense of whether he should do this. I think he should. The place would be ideal whether 30 or 100 people show up, but he can't stay open if it'll be, like, 6 of us :)

Let me know your thoughts - it's all getting very exciting, isn't it?!

bluzdude -- thanks! And realistically, if Rockman comes, the place will be flooded. If Rockman goes elsewhere, so will the crowd. Just the simple dynamics of social networking (the human kind, not the electronic kind). bluzdude, I'd been in contact with Rockman in the past ---have 2 email addresses for him--- but have emailed him recently to see what's up,  say hi, hope to meet him f2f when he's here, and to gauge whether he's a POSSIBLE at any event I help pull together. But --no word from him :(   My restaurant/bar friend is going to have to know soon, and barely anyone has shown interest, so I'll give it a couple more days--it is a super cool venue on the way to the Oracle Arena---but I have no stake or glory in doing this....so if I don't get some response I'll pull the plug :) best swiss

Might be people following wherever BV goes as well. But I like your idea swiss. Hope we can pull something together.

Wish I could be in the bay area enjoying a show and having some drinks with you... too bad I can't
