I've heard of this Plant guy, but I can't place him right now...pretty sure he used to do something worthwhile...

I saw him/them about a month ago

Plant came across as a very amiable and entertaining character and tho the years have dulled his vocal powers a little he's still got it. I couldn't help comparing what he's doing now with the way the Stones have moved into their "senior years". While he did a lot of Zep tunes they had been re-cast to suit his band although a nice version of Going to California sounded much like the original. Rather than a greatest hits (warhorses) show he has continued to work on and look for new avenues in his music.

The band at it's core is a two guitar bass and drums set up but at times included keyboards (and some sampling) as well as an african guy who played on quite a few numbers playing this one stringed african instrument that doubled and was played as a type of banjo and violin. So while they are essentially a rock and roll band rythmically and sonically it was a lot more varied than your typical heavy blues Zep sound.

Do not expect faithful to the original versions of the zep tunes and certainly do not expect to hear Stairway to Heaven (nor Kashmir for that matter) you will be disappointed if you do.

I have enjoyed a lot of zep's stuff but am by no means as big a fan of them as I am of the Stones. I only went because i scored a free ticket but it was a good show and it was good to see an old rock god in the flesh still having fun.

If you are a zep fan and never saw them then it is worth just to see Percy do his thing live.As I said his voice is still in very good nick - tho the years have taken a little edge off of it.

I saw the set lists...interesting.

When plant started out (solo) he did no Zep tunes, then as the years went on he brought them into his set list. Now about 2/3 of his set is Zep material. Makes me think maybe another reunion isn't totally out of the question.

BTW, I love the way he does Black Dog these days.

I'd much rather see this than a running game...although I admire quarterbacks that aren't afraid to run with the ball.

So, anyway....hey Robert, any chance of giving Jimmy and Jonesy a ring anytime soon :willya?

His set list looks good but drop whole Lotta Lovin' that's been murdered to death at least in my mind, I just can't see him doing this on a solo tour.
