Will Mick Taylor be playing full shows with the band on this tour or just guest spots on select songs like last year?

Probably more songs, but not full shows I would imagine. |

It'd be the most amazing thing in the world to see Mick and Bill play a whole show and let Ronnie and Darryl Jones sit out this tour.

It's insanity that people consider Ronnie Wood to be anything more than simply a journeyman guitarist. |

Dude, we have shows now in 2103. The most amazing thing in the world is to see this band onstage. Get a ticket and enjoy it. There will be time enough to think of fantasy scenarios in the future.

Yeah, lets shit-can a loyal band member of almost four decades standing and bring in someone who has made it clear a zillion times that he doesnt want to rejoin the band, doesnt care for the band's music anymore, doesnt want to leave home for long stretches and who wont even get on a plane. Bill had the courage of his convictions to move on to a life beyond The Rolling Stones. Pity a section of the band's fanbase won't allow him to do so. |

At the very least sideline Ronnie for Taylor, who can actually play guitar and isn't just a lesser copy of Keith. |

In which case maybe he should be replaced by Steve Vai. You could make the same argument about Keith. Should they replace him as well because of his diminishing chops? |

Ronnie played much better than Taylor at the 02 gig 25/11 that I was at..I think its a bit delusional to think that Taylor will reach his 69-74 level of playing again. Ronnie, like Bill, doesn't get the true respect he deserves sometimes, listen to Ronnie on the Zematis and Strat and tell me Taylor could now do better.

Mick Taylor is touring again with the Rolling Stones.
Stop and think about that. I've visualized this moment for years, and dismissed it as a pipe dream. I don't know how many songs, or which songs, he'll play on, but I couldn't be happier. |

Can/could Michael T play, or add to, or get in the way of, a lovely live & live offering of '(I'll Never Be Your) Beef Curtains', 'Hang Fireplace', 'Everything Is Turning To Golf', 'Suck On My Jugulars', 'Rain Fall Do'' or etc. ?
The idea of hearing 'Fileprint File' re-groovulated is nice. And-Now-for-Something-Completely-Different-monty-python-19047336-500-398.jpg (Attachment deleted) |

remove the guy who for the most part has been the only guitar player… adding a third guitar, when you have everyone firing at their best, for their ages, right now, would be bad… the sound should be full, and if the mix is good, it will be a very beautiful rock show!!! Enjoy it…. |

Ronnie aint going anywhere..and why should he. He and Keith are probably cleaner than ever and played great in2012. If Keith at MSG on Saturday is any indication...the best is yet to come Taylor or no Taylor!

Taylor not at the rehearsals would indicate he will only play on a few songs.

Gazza, that may all be true, but I'm convinced that the real reason Bill left was that he didn't want to be treated like a hired hand anymore, that he was sick and tired of being ignored by Mick and Keith, that he was hardly visible in the many concert films, and in the last years not present on photos and removed from artwork. There are so many examples how he was treated like shit by our so called hero's. I'm convinced he would not have left the band if those two motherfuckers would have payed him a little more respect. |

Have Taylor on for the middle part. Which would be a ballad (love in vain - or indeed TWFNO/winter), big set pieces like Rambler, YCAGWYW & Sympathy (imagine 3 guitars on Sympathy!!), then they hit the final warhorses before he comes on for the encore - which could be expanded to 3 tunes to include a Taylor era rarity like Sway along with the usual final 2 closers like BS, JJF or Satisfaction.
I would be cool with him being on the whole show, if that works out, but wouldnt want him over playing on standard, non-challenging rockers like YGMR, doom & gloom etc. Bring him out for 4 big middle show songs, quietly sneak off for a burger & beer, then come back out for the roaring finale. Whatever they do, i hope they ditch Miss You & Honky Tonk Women. |

he's been largely called upon as a hired hand for archives projects ever since and seems to be fine with co-operating. He was treated as a hired hand for three decades before he left. The only time he was removed from artwork was on Rarities, which came out almost 25 years after he left the band. I can understand his frustration to an extent, but the Stones are a band who have a delicate balance of two huge egoes and three small ones. Bill and Charlie were never really that bothered on the face of it about accepting who the high profile band members were. I dont think you can blame Mick or Keith for how a director chooses to edit a concert movie, in fairness. A bass player who never really moves doesnt exactly make for great cinematography. Bill was talking about retiring from the band as early as the 81-82 tour. The surprise was that he took so long, Sticking around for the final mega payday was fair enough, and there were so many more important factors around that time - his fear of flying (which was genuine as he's hardly been on a plane since), his desire to do other things that interested him more plus the fact that he was in the middle of a whirlwind high profile marriage that was unravelling in public all around him. Having reached his mid 50s' and seeing his personal life in a mess despite the fact that he's worth millions, I think he started to look at things in a different perspective as evidenced by the fact that he soon remarried, fathered three more children and has allowed himself more opportunity this time around to keep his family together and watch his kids grow up. Personally, I find that quite admirable. |

Again Gazza, it's all true what you say, but that doesn't mean that after 30 years there may have come a point where he was just fed up with it. After accepting his roll for 30 years I think he thought, enough is enough. I remember very well an interview with him where he was very genuinly surprised that they didn't wait for him for the videoclip for Highwire. If that is true, and I have no reason not to believe him, it must have felt like a knife in his back. Nowadays Mick seems like a really nice guy, but in the old days he could be a real asshole. Everytime I hear him say, "play the guitar BOY" to Mick taylor, I think to myself, what a mean little bastard you were Jagger, cause that's a terrible insult. An if you are treated this way for 30 years, there comes a moment that you just don't take it anymore. On the other hand, as I'm typing this I think to myself, if they wouldn't have been such assholes I probably wouldn't have loved this band so much. |

You'll never get any arguments from me about how badly Mick and Keith can treat people. Its also quite possible that he'd just had enough. Totally accept that. I just think there were other factors.
I'm unfamiliar with the story about him being pissed off over the High Wire video. They filmed that in New York. If he's choosing to absent himself from a band activity due to a fear of flying, I dont really get why they should have 'waited' for him, however. Maybe its lost in translation but the 'play that guitar, boy' is just, to me, one of those ridiculous faux (usually southern) American accents that Jagger would put on frequently through much of the 70s for some unfathomable reason. (Take a listen to the 78 shows and especially that Fort Worth gig for another example) |

That's true...The brits seem to always default to an American Southern drawl thing or Kentucky Gentry thing...much the same way Yanks tend to go for the "Allo Gov-nah"Cockney/ thing or a Liverpool thing by default. |
