What it says in the title. Presumably an interview as opposed to a musical performance.
Late night on NBC. Check your local listings |

The musical guest is showing as Ghostface Killah...
I assume this might be a mini interview w/ Keef about the tour...or Keef in a skit of some sort. btw...for those who are fans...April 12th...Shuggie Otis is the musical guest |

Keef is as delightful as ever and I think Jimmy Fallon needs to join RO. He's one of us!
Sounds to me like Mr Mick Taylor will play the role of 3rd guitarist for these shows. TINGLE |

Watch the link if you can. Keith is talking about how three guitars really help the songs that had five guitars on the record. It certainly does seem like he means MT is playing the entire show...
He says rehearsals start next week. We'll know then if MT is playing on every song or just Midnight Rambler. |

Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by The Wick on Apr 9th, 2013 at 9:11am
Nothing in the history of the Stones would make me happier than having MT playing the whole set, but I seriously doubt it. It just doesn't sound like something Mick and Keith would do. Besides, if anything like that were to happen, he would be eased into it and I doubt they would take the risk of having him play songs he has never played from the first show onwards. Still, I am praying they surprise us all and give us the one thing all of us have wanted for years. The idea of being a 3 guitar band gives the band the true edge they have been missing for the past few years.

Dont think he's implying that at all. Its just very vague. Certainly think he'll feature more than just the one song cameo we've had before now, but I'll be (very pleasantly) amazed if they use him on every song. |

Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by Steel Wheels on Apr 9th, 2013 at 9:34am
Well, we'll have to wait and see. I cannot imagine MT being onstage for the entire show and learning the post MT tunes. It might just be a vague comment.

I'm in the minority when I say this - I want to hear and experience Keef and Ronnie weaving. I don't want a 3rd guitarist onstage for the entire gig.

I doubt VERY much that's going to be the case. But it sounds like we'll get more than just one tune with MT, and that is the best thing that could happen! :wow As to Keef on Jimmy last night - dude looks GREAT! And he has his tour teeth in! BRING IT! |

Maybe they'll just do a Taylor mini-set. 3-4 songs.

Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by Chris on Apr 9th, 2013 at 11:16am
For me, the biggest reason to think Mick Taylor will NOT play on every song is that the Stones would have to pay him for that.

Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by ijwthstd on Apr 9th, 2013 at 11:30am
Do Start Me Up, a song or two off Some Girls, one of the new songs, then introduce Mick Taylor and have him onstage for the duration of the gig.
Even an extra solo on Miss You could really bring the song back to life since the live versions of that song have never held true to the original. |

Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by Justin on Apr 9th, 2013 at 1:01pm
I'd love Taylor to be there for the whole show (although he would definitely sound out of place on the post "Some Girls" tunes) but only if he actually rehearsed these songs. Him noodling all over Keith's grooves and more importantly: Mick's singing was not very cool on the last string of shows. "Midnight Rambler" slowly got better as the shows progressed during the mini 2012 tour but Taylor practically railroaded the entire tune.

I may be missing something here (only seen segments of the full interview), but in this clip there's a bit where Keith's in the audience laughing at himself? [smiley=huh.gif]

Thanks for posting the link SV! It sounds as if KEEF is saying he wants MICK T to play the enitre show but we know its up to MICK to deicde how that will work. Maybe KEEF feels it will take some of the pressure off of him and I'm sure he likes MICK T's playing ability. KEEF is no dummy, neither is Charlie who states that the best Stones era was the MICK T era. So we shall see how it plays out! I'm so excited I'm typing with my....Sticky Fingers! MICK T's best Stones album, right?

I reckon they'd wheel him out mid set. Some Tumbling Dice, Rambler & maybe a total surprise like Winter, Time waits for no one or even Cant ya hear me knocking. Rambler & any of those songs (OH, YCAGWYW!!) would be perfect. Then saunter into the usual Miss You crap, paint it black, blah blah blah, big finish, then have him come out for the last song of the encore. Or for We love you.
I really want We love yoU!! Many songs just dont require 3 guitars, let alone MT soloing all over the place. He only did 1 song in 4 shows, and they cut it right back after the London shows as it just went on and on and on. Though he may restrain himself if he knows he's got more than 15 mins show time. But 3 guitars on SMU, HTW, JJF, Satisfaction? Just hope for the 1 ballad they will do, they put stuff like Wild Horses in the cupboard and try something MT actually soared on back in the day. Though Wild horses with him might be good. Love in vain even!! Wonder how Ronnie feels about it all? |

I saw Mick Taylor late last year between the London and NY shows in London and he said he never played Can't You Hear Me Knocking live with the Stones, "but I hope to." So maybe he'll convince them to play that this time. The version MT did that night was awesome. |
|
Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by corgi37 on Apr 10th, 2013 at 8:04am
It would be awesome & him being back screams for not just Rambler but a big slower song to dazzle the crowd. And they havent really done anything as dazzling as some of the ballads they did with him. So i hope what they do is "his" song. I'd love Winter or Time.

I don't give a toss if I'm in the minority or majority, I want him to slowly be eased into the whole show and then record with them again and then every other band and music act out there will, in the first time in years, know their rightful place behind the Stones. I just can't believe that he's playing with the band again. It's almost too good to be true.

It 's certainly better to have Mick Taylor as a 3rd guitarist than Blondie Chaplin in the back of the stage , even if Blondie is a good player .

Not so sure now Gazza - just had a quick look at MT's website to read: Scottish and Australian dates postponed Due to unforeseen circumstances the planned shows in Reeth, Kinross and the Austrailian tour have been postponed. We will update you when there is any further information This is very disappointing. I was very much looking forward to the gig and very annoying as MT pulled the same stunt about 12 months ago!! |

Title: Re: Keith guests on Jimmy Fallon Monday 8th April Post by Mel Belli on Apr 11th, 2013 at 7:15pm
I seem to recall Keith saying before the 02 shows that Darryl and Bill Wyman would have to work out who was going to play on what, which could have left the impression that Bill was going to be playing a lot more than he did. Keith is sounding similarly expansive about Taylor now—and I would expect a similar outcome!
Mick said recently that it was up in the air which songs, or how many, Taylor will play on. That leads me to believe that it'll be two at most, and, if we're lucky, the song selection will vary. Hell, if the MT slot features just one of a handful of rotating songs (CYHMK, Winter, Sway, Time, a blues), I'd be ecstatic. |
