Keith Richards and STL legend Johnnie Johnson in 1987

The promotional "I'm Sold on St. Louis" campaign and logo got a rocking boost this morning, when Rolling Stoner Keith Richards went on Twitter and sent out a snapshot of him and the late, great Johnnie Johnson from 1987.

Johnson was part of Chuck Berry's early band and helped Berry arrange numerous songs, including "Johnny B. Goode," "School Days," "Carol" and "Nadine."

Largely unknown for years, Johnson got major press from the 1987 concert film "Hail, Hail Rock N' Roll," which was produced by Richards. Johnson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Johnson died in STL in 2005.

"Joe's St. Louis" appears online Monday-Friday and in print on Saturday. Holleman's "Life Sherpa" column appears Sundays in Everyday. On Fridays, Holleman is a guest at 8:10 a.m. on FM NewsTalk 97.1 , and at 2:20 p.m. on KTRS AM-550. Follow him on Facebook and Twitter

That was really great what Keith did, to give him recognition when he probably wouldn't have it, Chuck, bless him, but he's got to own up for where all these songs came from, I saw a video on Youtube about Johnny B. Goode & the opening came from a jazz riff changed to Guitar.

Keith's people tweet old photos all day long. That ad campaign was from the mid to late 80's. The writer of that article is being slightly sarcastic saying that an ancient ad campaign got a boost.
