Due to strange twists of fate, I hadn't heard this song before until today. :nooslajaleisk

Terrific song.
It was originally called “Think I’ll Pack My Bags” , and was released on Rod's terrific box set "The Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998" in 2009. Here's a review from Rod's fan club Smiler. This is a piece of this review. More than a third of THE ROD STEWART SESSIONS 1971-1998 chronicles the torrent of indelible recordings Stewart unleashed during the ’70s. Fittingly, the set opens with a decidedly rough take of “Maggie May,” the #1 hit from Stewart’s third solo album–Every Picture Tells A Story–that broke him as a solo artist in 1971. SESSIONS offers alternate versions of well-known hits from that era such as “Sailing,” “Tonight’s The Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “You Wear It Well,” and an acoustic version of “You’re In My Heart (The Final Acclaim).” Alongside those are rarities like the unfinished “Think I’ll Pack My Bags” (which later appeared on Ron Wood’s solo debut rewritten as “Mystifies Me”) http://www.rodstewartfanclub.com/about_rod/article/EkuZkuEZyViYntDypQ.php This is an excellent box set for anyone who is a Stewart fan. |

Mystify Me first appeared on Ron's first Lp I've Got My own album to do...
On his radio show when Patti Boyd was on he told her that he had written it for her during their fling trip deal thus Something Layla and Mystify Me are all for her....that is really cool to me I play this all the time on guitar to my wife, she loves it |

Oh man. Yeah. I tell you it was QUITE SATISFYING when my husband, who HATES THE STONES, put on Sun Volt's version and I was like "You idiot, this is Ronnie Fucking Wood."
I, too, love that whole first record to pieces. And the cover has been shot to shit using it for what CD covers were used for back in those days. That record is a better 6am record than even Sticky Fingers or Layla. |

I must say that kinda bugs me. I always wanted it to be for Jo. Patti must have been very cool or one hell of a lay. In pictures she seems non-descript to me. |
