I really hope no one got offended.  I just thought it was funny.  Because, I used to do the same thing, when I was younger.  But, I used to do it in Spanish.  I can do Cuban, Puerto Rican, Argentinean, Colombian, Mexican from the D.F., Mexican Indian, Chicano gangbanger, and Castilian Spanish.

In English, I can do proper British, Jamaican, American hillbilly, Boston, and New York.

In Portuguese, I can imitate people from Portugal.  (My friend from Brazil said, "Yup, gorda!  You got it!  That is exacty how they talk.")

In reality, I speak Standard American English, Standard Spanish, and in Portuguese, I sound like I'm from Sao Paulo.  (Or so I have been told.)

So who wants to see me on Youtube doing my accents?

I haven't watched it yet...but the hardest accent to understand ( at least to these yankee ears)  is the Yorkshire accent followed by the tavern Geordi accent.
I spent alot of time up in Newcastle , Durham, and Sunderland and man-oh-man...was that hard at times...

In '64 having an English accent was very cool because of Beatles/British Invasion, in fact some Toronto bands were named with England in there somewhere, The British Modbeats/ Lords Of London/Jack London & The Sparrow, & if you spoke with an English accent there's a chance some screaming girls will be behind you.

In the US...a proper English accent will add 10%  to your IQ and your credibility usually

Ha!  Ha!  This is true!

I love how everybody gets all intimidated with a British accent.  People could be arguing and then someone with a British accents speaks.  Everybody just shuts up, looks down and acknowledges that they don't know what they are talking about!

Since some months I used to speak with a North-Yorkshire guy by phone.
You cant guess how is hard for me to understand him.
You at least are 'cousins' of the Britosh.  Canada and Usa used English.
But every state got a different accent. what drive me mad is the slang that is familiar to you.
As 2nd language, sometimes it become tough to me. Understand and vice versa.
If happen to somebody of you to make a call to me, speak slowly! ;-)  :)

So true, even if the person is thick as bricks.

The great thing about accents in Britain is that you will hear accents change by crossing a road sometimes. It's quite amazing how you can not only tell what city someone is from but from what neighborhood.

Here are a couple of shocking attempts at an English accent, the first one slightly Stones related:

I've been watching The Eastenders, most of the time I pick up the accent, sometimes I have to rewind a few times to understand what the 'ell they're saying.  ;D

On my PBS station, we're only up to 2004 on The Eastenders.

I don't know which one is more disturbing, that you're watching Eastenders or that PBS is broadcasting Eastenders. Further proof that anything with an English accent is supposed to be intelligent in America.

Lucky bastard. It was comparatively jovial compared to the wall to wall slash-your-wrists shite that it is now.  Awful fucking show. Its uncanny how the 50 most miserable, depressed, permanently angry, cliched pieces of trash all seem to reside in one neighbourhood in E20.  .
