Yep. I'm a fan since 1990. I think Jackie Greene is going to be a nice addition to the lineup. I do wish they had a new album...

Southern Harmony and Three Snakes And One Charm are amazing. Those albums aside, I think they are a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong: I like that band, but they are good not great. Saw them live 6 or 7 times. Most of the time in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Lost track of them after By Your Side.

Sway?
http://youtu.be/VtOTOmiQKpc Dry bread on the table Burn the mill salt the paper And its easy pick-ins on Locust Street There's no place to hide And you can't find love on Locust Street But you can hear the sunrise crying Can't you hear the sunrise crying A song for you alone Sad eyes, weeping willow Black cat blues, blacked out window And its easy pick-ins on Locust Street There's no place to hide And you can't find love on Locust Street But you can hear the sunrise crying Can't you hear the sunrise crying A song for you alone Just a glimpse of what love could be Once a dream that I owned What of many lonely longing souls At least I'm not alone Well at least I'm not alone Ripe off the vine now lay rotten Like a dead end street forever forgotten And its easy pick-ins on Locust Street There's no place to hide And you can't find love on Locust Street But you can hear the sunrise crying Can't you hear the sunrise crying A song for you alone |

I wish they would bring Marc Ford back on guitar, he is their Mick Taylor in my opinion! I love that five or six CD set called, Crowes Covers, they do a bunch of great cover songs!

The Marc Ford ship has sailed. And besides, they already have a guitarist lined up for this tour. Jackie Greene is the new guy.

Mel, you raised a good question so I went to his webpage and see he's on the road with his own bad for the first half of the year.

why the new line up??

Title: Re: The Black Crowes Post by Saint Sway on Jan 15th, 2013 at 2:49pm
Luther has commitments thru the summer. Rest of lineup is in tact. Shows will be good. Rich Robinson is a beast. His sound is amazing. They've often changed who the 2nd guitar player is along side of him. But his tone is great. Thats the sound. He carries it no matter who else is on board.

Colt's in Skynyrd now. He's long gone. Sven Pipien is great bassist. Good singer too.

Title: Re: The Black Crowes Post by Steel Wheels on Jan 15th, 2013 at 8:45pm
Anyone who's a Crowes fan knows that Chris didn't like the Page tour and that he didn't have fun doing it. He's NOT a fan of Robert Plant's vocals and lyrics and I guess to some extent Led Zeppelin as a whole and when he was doing press for his solo record, he made sure to make it known. The genesis for that tour was contractual from what I recall, which is why there wasn't a lot of Crowes songs performed and none made it onto the Live at the Greek album from what I recall.
Also, did anyone read the press release on the Crowes website? This tour is to promote their latest live album Wiser for the Time. It contains a list of band members. The Crowes are known for their obnoxious press releases and this one seemed to be really down to Earth. |

Any chance that Page's back problems during that tour might have been a cover for his leaving early ? I remember being so pissed off that I didn't get to see the Houston show due to Page's inability to be there. If I remember right they were touring with The Who, playing consecutive nights in each city. |

Title: Re: The Black Crowes Post by ijwthstd on Jan 16th, 2013 at 11:04pm I liked them early on (1990-1992). Saw them in 2001 and it just boring, and this was following Oasis, not exactly a tough band to follow. Was going to go see them with Jimmy Page at Irvine Meadows in 2000 but it got cancelled. |

If you guys are really into going to these shows, just know that the sellout is a fucking joke. Tickets will be available. You should be able to get them on Stub Hub as the dates approach for UNDER face. Pete is just trying to create demand for the band. Its a wonder the fans keep coming back. The band is run by mental midgets.
Also, Sven is WAY better than Johnny. I'll take Sven. Johnny just looked cool, which counts for something, but yeah...Sven all the way. |
