'We'll announce it when we've figured it out,' says Mick Jagger

"Everyone was trying to get the band really on," Mick Jagger says in a still-revved-up voice, describing the best and most important thing about the Rolling Stones' shortest and most intensive tour ever: their five 50th­-anniversary concerts in London, Brooklyn and New Jersey. "Keith concentrated on holding his parts together," the singer says of guitarist Keith Richards, "and I wasn't letting the vocals take second place. We wanted to put the music out in a good way, not just be flash."

With stripped-down arena production, career-spanning set lists and a renewed focus on their natural kinetic-blues drive, the Stones reasserted their right, at these gigs, to the title of the world's greatest rock & roll band. And they will keep doing it on the road next year. "There have been quite a few offers," Jagger says, two days after the final show in Newark. "I'm going to see what's on the table and discuss it with everyone," referring to Richards, guitarist Ron Wood and drummer Charlie Watts. "We'll announce it when we've figured it out."

"Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement," Richards confirms with a raspy laugh. The birthday shows "went like a dream, at the same speed, man. But we barely got off the starting blocks," he insists. "It would be dopey to bring things up to this level and say, 'Well, that's that, 50 years, bye-bye.'"

The closing show – December 15th in Newark, shown on pay-per-view television – had the tour's highest concentration of guest-star power: a blues-guitar fusillade featuring John Mayer and rising star Gary Clark Jr.; the Black Keys pumping up the Bo Diddley beat in a rare Stones cover of "Who Do You Love"; Bruce Springsteen turning on his Jersey-bar roar in "Tumbling Dice"; and Lady Gaga going toe-to-toe with Jagger in "Gimme Shelter," the former in outrageously high heels. "She had big heels on for the rehearsal," Jagger notes. "But when it came to the show, they got even larger."

A recurring highlight in London and Newark was ex-Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, soloing in vintage form with Richards and Wood in "Midnight Rambler." But when they had the stage to themselves, the Stones – with pianist Chuck Leavell and bassist Darryl Jones – stuck close to "the band's natural feel," as Richards puts it: the rough heat and tight grind of their early-Seventies LPs and tours. "Everybody talks about how they like the sloppiness of the Rolling Stones," Jagger says. "But there's a difference between having swerve and being too sloppy."

Drummer Patrick Carney of the Black Keys says the first thing he noticed at rehearsal, the day before their guest spot, was that the Stones "were so friendly and down-to-earth. It wasn't nearly as scary as we anticipated." The second revelation: "There was nothing nostalgic about them. The way Keith and Ronnie play together – you don't see that kind of realness. Every song is a living, breathing thing."

"Nostalgia is not this band's strong point," Richards affirms. "It was almost kicking and screaming to get us to this 50-year thing. We eventually realized it was a good time to put things together again. 'Hey, 51 years? Don't give a shit.'"

Close to a year of rumination, discussion and planning went into the brief anniversary tour. "Mick took the longest to come along," Richards claims. "He was there with it, but it was always 'Give me another reason.' I know Charlie didn't need persuading. He just wanted to make sure Mick wanted to do it."

"It wasn't really a debate," Jagger counters. "I originally said, 'We can do anything. We can do one club show, if you want.' But I always imagined it was going to be brief." Jagger says the Stones added the 12-12-12 benefit in New York to the itinerary at the last minute "because we were there."

Despite extensive rehearsals in Paris, plus two club shows there, the band left some decisions to chance and the last minute. The Stones practiced "I Wanna Be Your Man," the Lennon-McCartney song they cut in 1963, at different tempos before settling on one closer to "Start Me Up," "with a lot more power and funk to it," Richards says. The Stones and the Black Keys didn't pick their Bo Diddley song until the Keys got to rehearsal, straight from the airport after finishing a British tour. And Springsteen nailed "Tumbling Dice" in practice right away. "We just did it once," Jagger recalls, "and he said, 'I think that's really gonna be good.'"

The first hint of 2013 Stones concerts came the day before the second show in Newark, when the band's iPhone app listed an appearance next April at Coachella. That info quickly disappeared from the official schedule, and Jagger swears he doesn't know how it got there, that he had not been approached about playing at the festival. "I always said that we'd see how this would go, and then we'd think about doing more – or not."

It's his turn to laugh when asked about Richards' standard optimism on Stones shows: that there is always more down the line. "Keith and Ronnie say things to the press," he says, "because that's their line. They don't say, 'Oh, I think about it carefully.' But they think about it as carefully as Charlie and I do. The reality is they are as tentative as anybody else."

Richards concedes there are serious questions to be answered about live work in the Stones' 51st year: how much to do, how to do it. "That will definitely come into the equation," he says. "At the same time, a gig's a gig. The curtain opens and there you are. I just get the feeling – they're itching at the bit now." There's one more laugh. "This thing wasn't enough."

Quite a few whispers in the last week or two about shows in LA and Tokyo. I think it's been a cert since the Nov/Dec shows that if they went well, they'd play more shows in 2013 - really just a matter of where, when and how many.

Judging from these 5 shows, 300 bucks doesn't get you floor seats.

I'm at peace with it if I've seen my last Stones show...my favorite tour will not be duplicated in 2013 so I'm only willing to pay so much. I guess if money was no object I'd go....

Joey,I don't do festivals. But anywhere else in LA for a reasonable price I can do. If it's the Nokia,I might go a bit higher. :forfucksake

hopefully they play more shows so they can spread the costs and dont have to charge so much to make a fortune  :wtf2

if you think costs will be lower than the 5 2012 shows, or like they were in the ABB tour, you will be very disappointed.

I'm already thinking of things to sell off in a ticket fever.

My plan is to get a ticket and dance nude at a show for some reason. I like being nude when I enjoy the Stones.

Don't care how much or how "low" ticket prices are, I won't be seeing them again (barring a miracle).

It's just exciting having them on tour - YouTube vids, articles and interviews, general media hoopla, the expectations of new studio stuff or live albums/DVDs.
And of course messege board craziness is always great fun!

I was an advocate of the Stones hitting a lot of the major festivals but I don't think they are going to play. The festival itself is such an attraction now that they don't need pay $7 million or so each weekend for a single headliner and the organizers don't want tens of thousands of people buying 3 day tickets only to show up for the last few hours.

Paul McCartney and Roger Waters were flukes, they haven't had a classic rock headliner since.

Rumour gathered legs yesterday that the Stones will tour Oz in November. Other rumour hit that they would also play Argentina in Nov.

Usually they hit Oz between Feb and April after South America / Japan.

Mick Jagger has confirmed to NME that The Rolling Stones will not be playing the Coachella festival in 2013, despite strong rumours suggesting they would.

Addressing the rumours that the legendary rock n' rollers will be playing the California bash, Jagger said: "We're not gonna do Coachella, 'cos it's too early. There was a rumour we were gonna do that one, but it's very early, Coachella. It's April or something, isn’t it? And we're not gonna be ready to go by April. But we're not gonna stop."To read NME's interview with Mick Jagger, pick up a copy of next week's NME, which will be on newsstands from Wednesday (January 23) or available digitally.

In December last year, The Rolling Stones seemingly leaked plans to play the festival after the rock legends' mobile app listed a new live date on April 12, 2013 in Indio at Coachella 2013, although they quickly took the information down.

Regardless of the band's plans for Coachella, however, both singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards have spoken about the possibility of playing more live shows in 2013. Jagger said that, after their brief run of gigs in London, New York and New Jersey at the tail end of 2012, the band were in fine form and keen to get back on onto the stage to continue performing, stating: "I'm going to see what's on the table and discuss it with everyone. We'll announce it when we've figured it out." Richards, meanwhile, added: "Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement."

Their comments came after Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood recently claimed that the band will "rock till they drop".

Because if they were going to start a tour in the spring,they could have used the momentum from the December shows to announce it and sell tickets. Coachella Unveils 2013 Lineup

" While those acts had often been mentioned in rumblings surrounding the festival, this year’s  lineup announcement showed that sometimes rumors do turn out to be true.  This year’s festival, once again occupying Empire Polo Club for two weekends, hosts Blur and The Stone Roses April 12 & 19, Phoenix April 13 & 20 and Red Hot Chili Peppers April 14 & 21.

Wicked Whispers & Racy Rumors this Thursday morning! It is a solid rumor, but neither MGM Grand nor The Rolling Stones has confirmed it yet.

High-level secret word slipped out this morning that the world’s greatest rock and roll band will play MGM Grand Garden Arena this summer -- not once but twice.

June 7 and 14 have been tentatively penciled on the calendar. I can’t get any reaction from my MGM contacts, though, just yet. After the Stones’ 50th anniversary concert celebrations ended in New York in December, first rumblings began about a full-blown 2013 tour.

This month, the Stones semi-confirmed that they’d hit the road again but denied any plans to play Coachella as a kickoff.

A few days later, frontman Mick Jagger said that he would meet with the band members to discuss what they wanted to do. He confirmed that there had been several offers for a tour, adding that we would have to wait for an official announcement about dates and venues.

As of this morning, The Rolling Stones have not confirmed any schedule for a 2013 tour, but my source is highly reliable and trustworthy.

Rolling Stones offered £1 million to play Glastonbury

The Rolling Stones have been offered £1 million to perform at Glastonbury and singer Sir Mick Jagger wants to do the show for the sake of his children.

The Brown Sugar band were formally made an offer to perform at the sold out festival in Somerset last week.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "It wasn't an option previously, but in the last seven days things have moved quickly. It's now in the band's court."

Singer Sir Mick Jagger has already said he wants the band to perform, for the sake of his seven children: Jade Jagger, 41, Georgia Jagger, 21, Elizabeth Jagger, 28, Karis Jagger, 42, Jim Jagger, 27, Lucas Maurice Jagger, 13, and Gabriel Jagger,15.

He told the NME: "Glastonbury is very important. It seems to be very important to my children - highlight of their year."

Jagger added while he is keen for the band - which also includes Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood - to play, he won't confirm anything until a deal has been made.

He added: "I hate announcing things when they're not booked. People are always like, 'Yakkety yak, you didn't do that in the end,' and I say, 'Well, yeah, we never really announced it.'

"All I'm doing at the moment is sifting through the possibilities, looking at the dates and how each once can fit in and so on. And then we'll see what we come out with."

In addition to live performances from Muse, Robbie Williams, Mumford & Sons and One Direction, veteran rockers The Rolling Stones look set to raise The O2's roof with a live medley of hits.

Nominated for Best British Live Act following their 50th Anniversary concerts in November last year, Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie are to bring the night's celebrations to a sensational finish on 20th February.

Keith Richards said: “Onstage is where we belong. When I’m up there with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie, everything is rocking, so a big thanks to Brit fans and the Brits nom!”

Mick Jagger added: “We all had such a blast. Everyone was at the top of their game and the hometown audiences at The O2 were just fantastic. It’s great to be nominated... we’ll see you soon.”

The latest rumours surrounding the Stones is that, following their mini BRIT gig, the band are to announce a UK stadium tour with tickets going on sale either Friday 22nd February or Friday 1st March. In addition, the Stones are also rumoured to reveal details of a Sunday night headline performance at Glastonbury Festival and an appearance at London's Hard Rock Calling this summer.

Mick told NME: “There are other things in the world, you know, apart from Glastonbury! But then again, Glastonbury is very important. It seems to be very important to my children – highlight of their year!”

The frontman also dropped perhaps one of the biggest Glasto hints yet, adding: "But is it going to be rainy on the Sunday? Isn't it nearly always rainy on the Sunday?"

Nothing has been confirmed by the band yet and speculation over whether or not the band will perform at this year's Glastonbury has been ongoing for months. Check back to Stereoboard for further updates on The Rolling Stones.

The rockers - Wood, 65, Sir Mick Jagger, 69, Keith Richards, 69, and drummer Charlie Watts, 71, - performed a series of live concerts last year to mark their 50th anniversary, and Wood is keen to continue the celebrations.

Wood admitted he is keen to play at the music festival, and is determined to get the other Stones on board.

Asked about Glastonbury he said: "Wouldn't it be nice. We've got a meeting next month and that's going to be my first question to them.

"It's something I've always been interested in. I'm going to twist their arms."

And he is also hopeful they will extend their tour, after playing a few dates in London, New Jersey and Paris last year.

Wood said: "I've got lots of high hopes this year, now that were all rehearsed - let's get it cracking this summer!"

The 65-year-old rocker was partying at the Elle Style Awards at London's Savoy Hotel, where guests including Bradley Cooper and Kate Hudson enjoyed a night of high fashion and Cointreau cocktails.

Wood had just returned from his honeymoon after getting married for the third time, to 34-year-old theatre producer Sally Humphreys.

He joked: "I've just come back from my perma-moon haven't I?

"We got to be nice and peaceful on Mustique, we had a house, empty, beautiful beach, fantastic."

Wood admitted: "Of course I didn't think I was going to get married again, but Sally's special and it's like being married for the first time, it's fantastic. Great person to hang with."

Humpreys, who has known Wood for nine years but only began dating him about nine months ago, recently said that despite the age gap, she felt like the more mature one in the relationship.

Wood said: "She bridges the gap. She likes to take care of the old and infirm. But that's why we married, I like that, it's fine."

the 'entire album in one night' theatre 'theme' shows on the Licks tour worked out well.

As did his cunning 'after this tour we'll probably do an album every 18 months' plan that he revealed to a journalist during the Bridges To Babylon tour.

Almost front row for Tegan And Sara + The Breeders. Seen both bands in places where the last row was closer though.

Won VIP tickets. This was when they still did single day tickets so I had a total of 6 to work with. I started wheeling and dealing with them, got myself a ride there the first day, a place to sleep in someone's luxury resort room that night, then a ride to Orange County after the 2nd night and came home with more money than when I left. When the Stones were rumored I was thinking to myself, how can I make 2013 better than 2008? I can't, I hope the bands I want to see get webcast.

I also got bloodstains on my ultra rare 7 Year Bitch T-shirt - one of the only decent non-black T shirts I could find when my nose sprung a leak during Kraftwerk.

Quebec City will break the piggy bank if it wants to see Mick Jagger in July. According to Le Figaro and Le Soleil, the Rolling Stones would require a guarantee of eight million dollars to perform at the Festival d'été de Québec.

Note that this amount is two times higher than what was requested for Madonna's performance at the Festival of Quebec in 2012.

The organizers have already said they could decline if the group asks too much money. However, QuébéComm and evenko could also try their luck in attracting Stones in the metropolis.

Today Searching For Sugar Man, the documentary that chronicles the fascinating story of Detroit singer-songwriter Rodriguez, won the Academy Award for Best Documentary, another astonishing chapter to the musician’s fascinating life.

Just after the film had received a nomination for the Oscars, Rodriguez himself spoke to theMusic.com.au’s Dan Condon about how the film has changed everything. In true Rodriguez fashion, he diverts all attention away from himself and spends his time praising others.

“Yes, 100 percent different,” he says of the films effect on his musical career. “It started at Sundance. Malik Bendjelloul is a self-made director and it’s his first film. He called me in November after he had come four or five times to Detroit, saying he had submitted it to Sundance. He was very excited because he submitted it in time for the deadline.

“It’s his first film and he and Camilla [Skagerström] got this thing together – she’s the cinematographer, these two people put that whole project together. I didn’t decide anything in the film as to who he interviewed or where he interviewed or what he put in there – it’s pretty much his work. I’m in it for eight minutes. But it’s changed things; I’m getting a lot of attention.

“I [was] on 60 Minutes on the 23rd [of December] and we’re going to play the Glastonbury in England, The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac are the headliners. This is 42-year-old material, who would have thought? It’s an amazing phenomenon in music.

Rodriguez had tried with his two sensational albums Cold Fact [1970] and Coming From Reality [1971] to break into the American market to no avail and, as such, gave up on his musical dream. He didn’t know that audiences in South Africa, which is where much of the film is based, had fallen for these records and made him a mysterious superstar and had long given up playing music when he was rediscovered in the late-1990s.

Rodriguez says that there had been further attempts to break him in the US in recent years recently (Australian audiences have always been big supporters of his work), but this film has finally got him over the line.

“We broke into the American market,” he says. “We were trying to do it through the Light In The Attic reissues of my albums, but it was through the film [that it happened].

“I have to credit – and this is really important – I have to credit Sony Pictures Classics, Sony Legacy, Sony Home Video, Light In The Attic, 42nd West and the local promoters – I think it’s Mad Man in Australia. We’re getting a lot of attention that way and it all has helped.”

They will do a small set of shows in North America this summer, with a side trip to Glastonbury. It's all agreed upon by the band. Now it is up to the PR people to arrange for a nice announcement, coming soon. No other shows in mainland Europe but they will take care of all of those who do not have Glastonbury tickets with something extra.

A small set of shows...IF...that is true...that can only mean SKY HIGH prices...create your own hype and make your art rare...and you can charge what you want...

My summer shows budget is taken care of already.  The 02 show in November - enjoyable though it was - was done as a one off because I got a half priced ticket on e-bay and didnt have to go much above my self-imposed £200 ceiling. Unless they do some kind of benevolent gesture (ha!), the only way I'll be flying for a show this summer will be if Bowie plays a gig.

With regards to the festival scenario, the only logical possibility to me is that the Stones would play the Barclaycard Festival at Hyde Park the following weekend after Glastonbury. Have you heard anything on the grapevine?

I dunno. I am usually the optimist on the board... but I gotta say... there are "no" indications of a tour or set of shows in the spring, or early summer.

I said it before and I'll say it again... guys... I don't think anything is going on with them as a live act until fall at the earliest.

It's already March. We would of heard something much more concrete by now if they were going to be getting going again. If they wait too long they will be rusty again and that is becoming a reality around now.

There is NO PART 2 to the 50th thing. There is NO Extension. That's over.  Onward and new chapter. Prolly in the fall they "may" plan on something but right now... nuttin seems to be on deck for the spring or summer.  Even Jagger remarked that "April" would be too early for them. There's your answer = nothing this spring for certain...and most likely nothing for summer unless it is late summer.  Fall will most likely be a time to consider if they plan on anything this year.

Rehearsals start at the end of April for shows in June. This is straight from the horses mouth.

The problem with Coachella wasn't the timing but because they wanted too much money and Goldenvoice doesn't need to shell out $16 million for any single band.

Music is better now than ever before.

I really don't know if I agree to all this. I took my 18 year old son (at the time) to see the Stones at Slane Castle in 2007. At least he put Paint It Black on his IPod play list. What he remembers is Keiths posing.

Another friend of mine took her 2 sons to see the Stones (17 and 21 at the time) and by the 3rd song they were begging their mom to leave because they were bored to death...and these guys (unlike my son) were musicians.

I have met a number of Stones fans in their 20's, most thru boards like this and IORR, and at the Waddy shows I go to, but in any major city, you could put them in a 3,000 seat venue and they wouldn't fill it up.

The Rolling Stones are mounting a 2013 late spring North American arena tour that will total 18 concerts with multiple-night stands in some cities. On this round of tour dates, arenas with professional and college sports commitments are likely to be sitting on the sidelines

New promotion company Virgin Live, who promoted the Stone's 2012 outing that celebrated the band's 50th anniversary, are on board again. Virgin Live marked the coming together of veteran UK promoter Paul Dainty's Dainty Group and mogul Richard Branson's Virgin Group.

On previous tours, the Stones were promoted by Live Nation. The last Stones tour promoted by the mega promoter was their 2005-2007 A Bigger Bang Tour.

The Stones last played five arena shows Nov. 25 and Nov. 29, 2012 at London's O2 Arena, Dec.8 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY and Dec. 13 and Dec. 15 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

Kasabian star Serge Pizzorno believes The Rolling Stones will be headlining Glastonbury this summer.

With his band making their only UK festival appearance at Hard Rock Calling on Saturday 29th June, Serge is promising fans a night to remember at London’s Olympic Park.

Speaking to MTV News about Kasabian’s Hard Rock headline slot, the 32-year-old let slip about the legendary Stones finally playing the Pyramid Stage.

“I hope ours is the most talked about performance of the weekend, but that would be a miracle because The Rolling Stones are playing Glastonbury.”  
Serge – who in recent years has headlined festivals including V and Reading & Leeds with Kasabian – admitted to us the offer of topping the bill at Hard Rock this summer was too good to turn down.

“It came as a bit of a shock because we were planning on not doing anything this year,” he revealed.

“It’s nice because we’ll be christening the Olympic Park and we’re playing with Paul Weller and Miles Kane, so it’s gonna be a great Saturday night.”

And Serge has been assured by Hard Rock organisers there will be no sound issues now the festival has moved from Hyde Park, which was often criticised for being too quiet.

“This band does not work at low levels – it needs to be deafening.”

Tickets for Hard Rock Calling 2013 go on-sale at 9am on Friday 8th March and are available from hardrockcalling.co.uk.

The only headliner so far announced are Bon Jovi for 5th July. Their tickets are priced at £65. Its a GA event, so it'd be nice if the Stones priced their tickets on a similar level if theyre on this bill.

Normally you do say when something is no longer in the cards, your right... There was also my thought that there was a small possibility you were still clinging to something that may of changed behind closed doors with out you knowing much of that just yet is all.

Now we seem to be getting some word, and a few insiders say they heard directly from their sources it's a go. I spoke, literally 24 hours too soon. Things were laying low a little too long is what triggered my recent post.

Yep, thats the story posted on the page before this one.

US-based story, so I wouldnt expect it to mention UK dates - and vice versa.

The person that told me is the same one who gave me the first reports of the London, NY and Paris rehearsal sessions from Dec 2011 - September 2012 and who was one of the people who provided advance info on the Nov/dec shows.

From another source, the Stones had their band meeting in London last week (presumably thats why Keith was in London, as we figured he might be attending the NME Awards). It was hoped theyd announce the dates last weekend but it seems a few more loose ends have to be tied up first. Expect a confirmation very soon.

If they were playing the Forum, I would suck it up and try to get the cheapest seat wherever that may be. But Staples? If that's the case I will probably have to pass. Too reluctant to part with a large wad of cash for an experience I probably wouldn't enjoy. I was there a few times recently and assessed the situation from different spots with the Stones price level in my mind and I just couldn't make it work.

And at this point I would absolutely prefer a stadium!

Ha! The Arena only holds about 11,000. Things arent that bad yet. Its been somewhat superseded by the larger 02 as the main indoor music venue in London.

London (uniquely in the world, I'd imagine) has three stadiums which hold 80,000 people or more - Twickenham, the new Wembley Stadium and (for now anyway), the Olympic Stadium

They'll play at least one show at Hyde Park plus a second gig somewhere else in London, Maybe at one of the above stadiums or maybe at the Olympic Park or Hyde park again.

If they're playing as part of the Barclaycard Festival then, like Glastonbury, they wont need their own stage. And I cant imagine them going to the expense of designing a stadium stage for just one stadium show. So maybe the second London show will also be a festival-style event.

I do think this actually bodes well for future concerts because if this was a 'farewell' tour, then that would mean that the European part of it consists of two arena and two outdoor shows in London and a festival in the south west of England. I cant imagine thats how they'd want to restrict themselves in Europe.

"There have been quite a few offers," Mick Jagger said afterward, weighing a full tour. Added Keith Richards, "Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement."

The wait will be over soon. A concert business source confirms to Rolling Stone the band is planning 18 concerts in North America this year. Billboard also reported yesterday the band will play "fewer than 20" dates in North America in the first half of 2013, with Australian promoter Paul Dainty and Virgin music promoting the tour (the team also promoted the '50 and Counting' run.) It would be the band's first tour since 2005-2007's A Bigger Bang, and, if the '50 and Counting' shows were any indication, the band is even more adventurous these days. Last year they performed with former members Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman, invited guests like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and played rarities like "Around and Around" and "I Wanna Be Your Man."

No. By 'launch' it presumably means the opening night of the tour. They couldn't leave an announcement that late for concerts in May and June.

As I mentioned earlier, the band will be rehearsing in April.

Supposedly dates were going to be announced a few days ago, but its been delayed a little, so I guess its somewhat imminent.

Grrregory should be beating his chest and being generally annoying again in a matter of days, I think.

Must be a good chance of it. I'd expect that an 18-date tour starting on May 2nd would certainly continue into around mid-June (with a few breaks) before they take a couple of weeks off before Glastonbury (June 29 or 30)

Like I said before, theres one rumour that has them in Philly around the Memorial Day weekend (ie, just before May 27)

I'm not too excited because I dont expect too many NY area gigs since they already did that with 50 & Counting. Maybe Philly or Boston if they go the ususal way, but I dont think these are going to be the typical tour plans with so few shows. Should announce soon if they plan to sell out expensive seats! LET ME REMIND EVERYONE ~ at the Barclay Center, there were hundreds of unsold tickets the day of the show at the $750 price point. There were hundreds of fans (myself included) outside the venue willing to pay the $250 - $300 price point. They didnt drop the prices even after the show started so a bunch of us left outside were not happy. I imagine if they keep the prices at $750+ this scenario will repeat itself all over the country. Its a fvcking shame, they could of and should of dropped those tickets on show day just to sell out. But GREED is a nasty thing and I will not pay $750+ no matter what they do. No fvcking way. I think this may be the hold up, they must know people are not willing to spend that kind of bread.

If that was the case, there wouldnt be a hold up. Theyd simply have scrapped the whole thing. Delaying a ticket sale start date only makes it harder to sell the tickets in question.

I dont think any delay is worth being concerned about. Probably some minor logistical issues.

Good question...new "markets" for the most part so it might be the same shows with a couple of new tunes thrown in...they rehearsed about 75 in Bondy if memory serves.

I guess the "attraction" this year will be to see them at a festival, hopefully with a decent view again...diamond or gold circle anyone ? ;-)

I do hope they use the same stage setup as they had on the previous 50 & Counting shows. I wouldn't be surprized if we get the official announcement today.

It's as good a day as any. But doesn't seem like they'll be any announcement today. The other option is to make the announcement later in the week followed by an onsale date for tickets.

Thr rumour isnt for 18 'cities' - its 18 'shows' - ie, not necessarily one-nighters

And no way will they all be on the 'west coast'. The writer even contradicts himself by saying they'll play east coast dates too - unless he's under the impression that this is some kind of extensive US tour , which it most certainly isnt.

Looks like this spell of mini-tours may have some legs. Bv on IORR is saying that promoters in Brazil and Argentina are bidding for shows there which its hoped will take place in their summer (ie, winter in the northern hemisphere)

A while back we were talking about a RO Summit for the next tour, so is it to be Vegas or Chicago? I think those were the 2 places we were thinking of at that time, depending on the dates, etc,. They dont need to be together

They didnt do a press conference for the shows last year either. They did a video on their website, filmed during the Paris rehearsals. And in 2007, Mick announced the Euro tour on some sort of webchat.

No need to do press conferences anymore. Social media takes care of all that and reaches far more people.

They can also pre-record an announcement if they wanted the entire band to be involved - which is possible as they were together in London a couple of weeks ago.

Theres no major announcement needed as there's no world tour and no new product. I wouldnt be expecting ny blimp-style publicity stunt. This is only really an add-on to the 50 Years and Counting shows anyway.

Whether they're affordable is another thing I suppose, but hopefully its close enough for you that you can commute cheaply enough.


bv on IORR reckons now the US leg would start early June and continue for most of the summer - with a break for the UK dates late June - he says some dates have been brought forward but he hasnt seen anything for May as yet.

I find it hard to believe they'd tour ALL summer. Although of course we're only talking about 20-21 shows in total. And June-July isn't a 'spring tour' no matter where in the world anyone lives! If what hes saying is right, then May 2 may well be the announcement date as opposed to the start date.

however, they wont be waiting THAT long for the UK dates - well, not Glastonbury anyway. Returned or cancelled tickets go back on public sale on 21st April. The line up for the festival will be confirmed by the time that happens.

Giving fans a month or so at the height of summer to buy flights and book hotels for really pricey shows that are probably only going to take place in about 10 cities. Way to go, guys.
