Led Zeppelin got one ................

The Who got one .............

The Beatles got one .............

Elton John got one ................

What about Mick & Keef ?! .... Where is their Honour ?!

I think The Stones have passed by the undesirables to the U.S. that somebody in Government said about them in '69, now it would be great to get them in to be honored, it's 50 years after all.

Its not unprecedented. Theyve never won a single Brit award and have always been overlooked for the Lifetime achievement award (which, by coincidence always seems to be offered to whatever act has agreed to close the show with a 15 minute run through their back catalogue) - something which always seemed like an incredible slight (especially considering the fact that dreck such as the Spice Girls had got one). However, as it turned out, the band had been offered one some years ago and had refused, as they considered it to be something an act gets at the end of their career.

They had no such qualms, however, about accepting a Lifetime Achievement at the Grammys (which is basically the same thing) or being inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame. Then again, they werent obliged to perform as a band at those events.

That behaviour tends to be frowned upon at such high falutin' social gatherings.

I've always been surprised that organisations such as the Rockefeller Commission never picked up on that. Can't get a much more explicit admission of guilt than this - even if he did complicate matters by roping in about 4 or 5 billion accomplices.

They did the MTV awards where they got the lifetime award or whatever that was in 94 or 95. Love is Strong and Start Me Up I think, but they were in the middle of a tour so that had more to do with publicity I think.

Hopefully they don't get one - I see no point it them doing a public appearance in which other people perform Stones songs for the Stones. I need to see the Stones - not people paying tribute while they all sit in the balcony.

Part of my love for the Stones comes from being outsiders.....no Grammy's, Beatle hype....etc....awards are for those that need em.....
