Title: Ronnie says new album will be made ... from Ian
Post by Ian Billen on Dec 11th, 2012 at 10:22pm

I seriously think they plan-on (meaning it's in their objective agenda some time after the anniversary shows) making another studio album in the relatively near to intermediate future... HOWEVER my opinion does not have much to do with this news snippet because the article should be taken with two large grains of salt (still I thought I should post it):

1. This is from ...aaaaa ..."The Examiner" (not always the most factual or reliable news agency in the the whole world).

2. It is coming from "Ronnie" ...if the band so much as have a conversation or mention something he sort of thinks it's automatically officially starting or in the official plans and he starts these things rolling and often it's a dead end.... hehehehehehe.

*Not to mention he says at some point it'll happen and there are no current official plans.

Anyway ...here is the article:

Isnt this a rehash of the same shite he said weeks/months/years ago?

Means nothing as its not him who's a) writing the songs or b) making the decisions.

Still waiting on those Stones albums that he said they were going to make every 18 months after the BTB tour (maybe he was talking to a deaf journalist and actually said 'an album every 18 years' instead) or the 'album theme' nights on the Licks tour when he reckoned they would do things like 'play an entire album back to back - like Exile'

May as well throw in for good measure Ronnie's comment after his "Ronnie Wood & Fiends" gig that I attended in March 2005 in London.

It went so well that he said afterwards he planned to do something similar every month.

Almost eight years on, I'm still waiting on the first of the follow-up gigs!

The only members of the Rolling Stones I take seriously when it comes to making definitive statements about future work are Mick Jagger - and probably Charlie.  I'd have more faith in something coming from Chuck Leavell than I would from Ronnie, to be perfectly honest.

I'd settle for 7 or so albums they reckon they had in the can back in the early 80's. 3 studio albums in 18 yrs is pathetic.

I agree Gazza. I totaly agree with you there...  Didn't I state take this comment with a few large grains of salt... Woody is probably (well easily) the most unreliable source of news from the entire Rolling Stones camp. In fact he's wrong or it's his comments are not factual far more than they actually occur.

HOWEVER ... notice the big however.  YES I think they will make another album. <...and yes when they decide to I presume you'll say it is because Universal wants them to and they really do not ... OR that it somehow is not their choice and they really aren't into it or something  ::) or it is simply a product to help sell some live shows etc....rather than simply taking it for what it is in sayin yes...they still have a want and desire to be writing and recording....(sure...nowhere near as much as they used to but yep... they will make another album.. Why? Because they WANT to).

How do I know this... Well I cannot predict the future... I don't KNOW what's going to happen from day to day with 100% certainty but as I understand it they plan on continuing as a ..."band" ...and that will include albums until they say they do not want to continue anymore.  This "50 and Counting" stuff is not a farewell ...hence the title... That is unless something occurs in which they have no control. Instead of everyone reading into it... why not just take it for what it is and what they are saying ...

I hope they play the songs from it afterwards 'because they want to' otherwise there's no reason to bother.

If they cease touring, there's certainly no incentive to make another record. The notion of them making a record and then not touring afterwards at this stage is incomprehensible. Getting them to make one to support a tour is in itself a stretch at this point.

Universal wont be a factor. Their deal with that label expires next summer and they have no contractual obligation to release a studio album.
