Title: Guests for 12-13 show?
Post by scope on Dec 11th, 2012 at 7:21pm
What the heck are they waiting for?  I guess they will just ask around at the 12-12 show and ask who is free tomorrow.  They sure have a lot to choose from but I fear they will take the easy choice and bring back Clapton.

Yeah it would, i didnt mean it that way  My point is if it is going to be Clapton, why not announce it already? Trying to keep the focus on the PPV maybe?  I am getting impatient!!!!

Hope not.  Nothing against any one of them, but who wants the same show back to back?

John Mayer announced as special guest tonight.  Didn't see this one coming.
I guess this means Lisa gets to do her thing on GS

as in times past, different guests, but also a dry run for the concert to be aired... all the cameras will be set up, the producers will be checking out stuff looking for quirks. They better get a good mix through my fucking tv... stuff like that... in the past, some of these shows are better, looser and less uptight. If i remember correctly the HBO MSG first show video leaked out along with a good audio that got bootlegged. Hubert Sumlin played that night, can't even recall w/o checking if he played the HBO gig too...

All of rock royalty is here in NYC today..... we can do better!!

I called that John Mayer would be a guest in another thread. He's best pals with Chuck and Chuck has made several comments that Keith enjoys his playing. Steve Jordan is the drummer in John's band, and Steve is a Wino.

So I don't understand why everyone is shocked by this!

Well Mayer currently has serious throat problems and is recovering from surgey and can't sing. So he won't butcher anything vocally. But he'll probably end up in the blues slot. Not that he can play the blues. But he thinks he can. :-[

I don't like John Mayer. But to play devil's advocate, it does seem a lot of guitar players do like him. Keith Richards, Buddy Guy and BB King all like him. What am I missing here? I haven't like one thing Mayer has done.

I'm hoping Mayer shuts me up. I want to see awesome guitar wars onstage. But I have no faith in him at all.

Outstanding clip although I'd say worst on this tour not ever.

This is pay per view so they are going for the commercial angle and his fans who will buy this just to see him but he's really awful. I don't understand all this raving about his guitar playing. Technically he might play some good things, but it's so incredibly boring and copied. No personality to his playing.

They always seem to invite the newer acts which is fine but why not someone like Raphael Saadiq who sounded really good with Mick at the Grammys. Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Timbershite, it's just embarrassing.

But tonight's not a PPV. Mayer won't be on Saturday's show. Thankfully.

John Mayer's guitar playing may be derivative, but whose isnt to some degree? I think a lot of hatred directed towards him stems from the commercialisation of his music to play him up as a heartthrob for female fans. But he was against this and if any of you listen to his new album you'll notice that his musical take on it is a lot purer. I think he's a great musician, even if you can hear the stolen licks in his solos

John Mayer does steal too much from SRV...I'd rather see someone different....But I feel that way about GaGa too
Let 'em play and git off

Then it's even worse. I hope he doesn't mangle Wild Horses. There is still probably the commercial angle of getting new fans, which is fine, but I just can't stand his playing or singing.

He'll probably do I'm Goin Down. He's still recovering from throat surgery and can't sing.
