Its official.

Wouldnt read too much into the non-announcement of an appearance by Taylor as his appearance in London was announced separately from the 'non Stones' guests.

Actually I think GaGa is a good choice. She's a good fit for Mick. I thought Mary J sucked so give Lady G a chance to kick it with Mick. She may give GS a Florence Welch ish touch, which I loved.

I just don't see Bruce in the slot previously filled by a Blues guitarist. You Bruce fanatics help me out here. Give me a scenario. Give me a song choice.

Don't know enough about The Black Keys to comment.

All I know is I wish they'd shelve the special guests and give the fans what they want. MICK TAYLOR AND BILL WYMAN ON MORE THAN ONE SONG!!! Yeah, I know. Dream on LJ. Dream on.

Doesnt have to be a blues slot. He probably knows the Stones' catalogue as well as anyone on here, to be honest. It'd be nice if Steve van Zandt was there too, who is even more of a Stones nut. The Stones hardly ever play blues at their gigs anymore anyway. Take out the one-song slots at their recent shows with guest artists and Buddy Guy's show stealing cameo on 'Shine a Light' and ask when was the last time they played a blues song at a proper Stones gig which didnt feature a guest slot? Their target audience doesnt care, sadly.

I still think Taylor will play. I hope its on more than one song. I still dont think Bill will be at the gig but I'd love to be wrong.

The Black Keys are excellent. Its just a two man band though - and one of them is a drummer, so I'm not sure how thats going to work.

Ga Ga is aimed at ratings, I'd guess. Saying that, while I'm not a fan of her music, she's a bloody good singer and performer.  I think her duetting with Mick could be pretty good if they choose the right song.

The Stones have had special guests on their PPV's every time since 1989. It's never once detracted from the show itself and in many cases it has added to it.  Part of the Stones' legacy has always been trumpeted as 'passing it on' so I've no issue with them having special guests at special events - hopefully the song choices are appropriate.

I love GaGa. I think she'll be great.
And it sounds like we might get a shake up of the setlist with the addition of Bruce, which would please me very much.
As far as the Black Keys, THERE IS NO NEED FOR A GUEST DRUMMER. PERIOD.
Bring it on. Let's see what they've got in mind.

Rolling Stones to Host Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys
Guests will join rockers for pay-per-view special December 15th
Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys will appear with the Rolling Stones December 15th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, as part of a concert that will be telecast live on pay-per-view as "One More Shot."

Inside the Rolling Stones' Reunion

"We're excited these extraordinary artists, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys, had agreed to help celebrate our 50th anniversary as we share the night live with our fans all over the world," the Stones said in a statement on the band's official app. "Now the fun begins of trying to figure out the best songs to perform together."

The show is the last of the band's three U.S. "50 and Counting" performances this month, following a pair of shows in London in November where guests included Jeff Beck and Mary J. Blige, and Eric Clapton and Florence Welch, respectively. The Stones performed this past Saturday with Blige and Gary Clark Jr. at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and the group also plays December 13th in Newark. There's been no word on special guests for that show. The Stones will also perform this week as part of the "12-12-12" concert to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

2 out of 3 are from the area, one is old, the black keys are heavily blue's based and gaga is a current pop culture icon who is also very, very talented... good choices!

I hope Buddy Guy performs on the 13th.

Good point on the Black Keys. That may well indeed be a blues related song.

Now I'm really starting to feel my age.  The Stones do a PPV show and the obligatory 'veteran' act is Bruce Springsteen!

Scary thing is that at 63, he's only about 3-5 years younger than Muddy was when he played with the Stones at the Checkerboard in 81, Bo Diddley when he played at the Miami PPV in 1994 and Taj Mahal was at the 97 PPV show. And Mick, Keith and Charlie are actually older than all of those guys were at those gigs.

I've been seeing Gaga live for years, even before "Fame" was released. She is really talented.
I hope they give Gimme Shelter back to Lisa and find another song for Gaga, though.

I think these are good choices all around. To use one of my new words I learned hanging around in London's East End a couple of weeks ago:
I'm chuffed.  ;)

These performers all fit into what the band has had for past guests

Stones aren't thinking too far outside the box with this setlist. My guess is Bruce will play on "The Last Time." He's done it before himself ... and it's on the setlist.

Will be cool to see, no matter what.

I know that GaGa has the same vocal coach as Jagger (In NYC)...so perhaps their paths have crossed before. She is a total rock fan,
worships Brian May and Freddie Mercury...and has a truly magnificent voice...I think she will do the boys justice...Bruce...I have no opinion on how he can contribute...HANG FIRE
comes to mind, but that was not rehearsed...IORR, or Last Time more likely...Black Keys...well it is obvious what they will play on...

Who know who else they may pick up at the show on Wednesday night at MSG...???

Very good selection of guests, two of them already announced by Bitch... my bitch  :charlieperv

I saw Lady Gaga with my daughter and her friends when she closed her last tour, I went to see her with a prejudice and attended with  the idea of having a bad show and to be at the bar drinking, instead I was watching the show, the whole show in awe, even that her music is not my music she is a great musician with a very good handling of the stage and the audience, she plays piano, guitar and sings very good

Now the question is which songs, my guess

Lady Gaga on Gimme Shelter (but I do prefer as Sweet Virginia says to leave this to Lisa and having Lady Gaga singing HTW)
Bruce on Wild Horses
The Black Keys on Goin’ Down

Bruce has also done Street Fighting Man in the past. That would be a good choice. Darlington County borrows heavy from the HTW riff. Maybe that's a possibility. Still boggles my mind how Stones fans get their knockers in a knot over special guests. It's entertainment folks. They're charging $800 a ticket. The PPV price is actually very reasonable $40. Compared to the Pacqiao fight that cost $70. Stones are a bargain. :loloncemore

I'm absolutely thrilled that the Boss is making his first appearance on one of their tours. I'd like any song that he sings with them. He probably knows how to play a lot of the Stones catalog better than they do. Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren would be great but it would be too crowded.

The Black Keys are okay. I'm not in love with them like many Stones fans because I don't see anything too ground breaking there but I'll still enjoy seeing how they interpret a Stones song.

Lady Gaga is unbearable for me. I just thought how it was almost a good thing they didn't tour after Dirty Work because we would have had to endure appearances by Madonna and Michael Jackson and God knows what other pile of crap.

Assuming they keep the setlist roughly the same as the first three shows, I guess we can assume Gaga would be on "Gimme Shelter", and probably the Black Keyes on "Going Down". Springsteen is kind of the wild card here. He could do practically anything and make it really work.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Gaga AND Bruce on "Gimme Shelter" (Bruce could really chew up that lyric and make it soar) - Gaga's a huge fan of his, they're both Jersey natives; it would be really strange and different. Older traditionalist with younger outrageous pop diva - it'd piss a lot of people off (good) but it could be very exciting. Plus the whole Sandy thing...

They could do Sweet Virginia or Dead Flowers. Bruce has played them both in bars or at guest appearances down the years.

Or Street Fighting Man, which hes played in the past.

Or just as easily nothing that he's covered before. Its not as if these songs should be hard to pull off.

Aint Too Proud To Beg

Bright Lights Big City

Cry To Me
Drift Away
Get Up Stand Up
Good Times Bad Times

I'm excited to see Bruce share the stage with the Stones, but I'm resigning myself to a dull and predictable Last Time or IORR. Remember the days when they did special one-offs with guests -- "Salt of the Earth," Boogie Chillen," "Stop Breaking Down," "Corrina, Corrina" -- instead of just assimilating them into the same old set list?

Remember the days when they did special one-offs with guests -- "Salt of the Earth," Boogie Chillen," "Stop Breaking Down," "Corrina, Corrina" -- instead of just assimilating them into the same old set list?

Yup. Wouldn't happen (?), but what if they let him do a couple songs, maybe at the end of the show pre-encores. And what if he called an audible... something sweet like "Drift Away" or...or..."Pay Me My Money Down" - hahahaha!

Oddly enough, I'm not as excited as I should be. I think it'll be very good, but as its my two favourite live acts sharing a stage for the first time it could end up being a bit underwhelming instead of earth-shattering.

A bit like that movie 'The Score' when De Niro and Brando finally ended up on film together !

All-star jams often do end up very underwhelming, yeah. But you know Springsteen'll give it his all, 'cause he's like that. I just hope he doesn't show up Jagger!

Doubt he'll try. I've seen him perform guest slots at other artist's shows before and while he'll give it 100% as you say, its not his style to consciously try and upstage anyone. It's the Stones' gig.

Brando's hazing of Oz over his work with the Muppets got so bad that Robert De Niro was forced to direct Brando instead, with Oz giving him instructions via headset. "

Well Bruce and LGG do have history together. They played a Save the Rainforest benefit with Sting a few years ago and played together.

Doubt it. They stopped doing Chuck songs during the BTB tour when they had televised shows - apparently because Chuck asked for too much money for broadcast rights to his songs.

They havent played a single Berry song in concert since that tour.

Just listening to David Johansen & the Harry Smiths first album, and had a another brilliant choice for a guest for the first Newark shows (get Mick on the phone now, dammit!):
Johansen! He's just across the river, could be there on short notice, quick study, and he's one of the best R&B/soul inflected rock n' roll singers around.

Muddy's "I Can't Be Satisfied", Sonny Boy's "Don't You Start Me Talkin" - or shit, any Stones song.

But that's gotta be the one for Springsteen. Perfect vocal match (well, as much as you can ATTEMPT to match the Big 0), perfect feel for Bruce. Yep. That's gotta be the song. Niiiice call, man.

Attention Comcast Cable Customers! (at least in the Philadelphia area-I have no way of knowing what other markets have) I just went into the On Demand feature and noticed they have a Rolling Stones channel to promote the PPV. The video in which the band speaks about all of their upcoming shows has been re-edited to only reference the gig at the Prudential Center. The features are:

1. short clips from the Crossfure Hurricane premieres in England (4 minutes-didn't watch it yet)
2. and New York (4 minutes-interviews with Ron, Mick, Keith)
3. a live performance of Shattered from the 81 tour (daytime gig)
4. a quick 3 minute montage of the Stones performing at the secret Paris gig. Well shot with great audio! (JJF, TD, Doom and Gloom)
5. Miss You from Rio.  It's mistakenly marked that it's from 1983. The audio is so so, but Lisa looks fantastic. She shakes her tits and ass in a skin tight costume. Jesus.
6. 12 minute promo for the PPV - a chick talks about the Stones and their "60" years of rock and roll. Editing in are some various clips and whatnot.

I will say this - it's great to see this stuff on my tv instead of my small computer screen.

What are they going to do, having paid $45. Switch over?

Captive audience. Play songs that might make them discover the Stones' music even further. It's a win-win.

Casual fans dont tend to pay that kind of money to watch a TV broadcast of a band they dont really care about much.

I believe that before there was Lady Gaga there was just another jazz singer trying to make it.  So, the girl obviously took a few marketing courses as well.

Can't wait to see how this turns out: disaster or tremendous success. I don't think there is anything in between.

Couldn't possibly be any worse than the Amy Winehouse appearance with the Stones. :tongui :stinkypost

I kinda liked it, oddly enough, even though she was all over the place and quite obviously off her tits.

Off her tits?............A new Gazzaism! :smilemick

I too would prefer Mick T and Bill be the special guests.

But since theyre going to have other special guests, The Black keys are a good choice.

Taylor better do Midnight Rambler.  Nobody outside of die hard fans knows Time Waits...

Outside of a dedicated rock fan, you'd be hard pressed to find too many who know Rambler. I say have him on for both. I don't want Rambler off the list but the war horses could do with a day off. It's Only Rock'n'Roll has been played enough times and won't be missed by anyone.

It'll be interesting to see how she's able to sing dressed head to toe in that 'Polythene Pam' outfit she's referring to.

Odd that theyve agreed to do a Beatles medley. That'll piss some people off for sure.

A miracle night.

best part for me though was my church's choir singing with them for the encore. My daughter was baptized at Trinity Church this year. And the 1st - and only - rock song she sings the chorus to is YCAGWYW. So that felt pretty surreal and special for me.
