Title: Give Woody some play Post by Mr. Yeats on Dec 4th, 2012 at 12:58pm
It'll never happen, but it should. Give Woody a song - one song.
Seems high time and appropriate after all these years. I nominate "I Can Feel the Fire". One of the greatest Stones songs that's not actually a Stones song. Even if Woody's vocals are shot these days (who knows - maybe being sober and all he could do fine), there's still Bernard to cover his ass, and he knows the song well. Even Jagger could join in. I'm sure Woody wouldn't mind. |

How about a Seven Days guest spot with Dylan ?

That would be cool as hell, and not very far fetched, as Bob and Woody are buddies and Bob loves the Stones.
Yeah, they could really growl up a storm. Good call Edith. |

Actually, I've heard Mr. Allen is pretty damn good on the clarinet.
That'd be a pretty funny guest spot - Charlie would love it and Woody (the guitar slingin' one) would probably turn the spot into a Laurel and Hardy routine! |

With all the excitement over Mick Taylor's spots recently, it's well to remember just what Woody can do (if he could get out from under Keith's thumb for 5 minutes); he hasn't had this tone since '75 ((is Richards scared of him stealing his thunder?).
In the dictionary, under "Rock n' Roll", it's got a picture of Woody. Playing like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PXJUI6PO_Y P.S. check out his quote from "Memo From Turner" - now THAT would be a cool tune to throw into an upcoming gig! |

Far East Man
Mystifies Me Always Wanted More Breathe on Me (Acoustic w/ Bernard Fowler) He's an underrated balladeer. |

From a great gig, from a great era (don't let anyone tell ya different, kids); great guitar tones (Gibsons rule!), great band (Mac!), great toooon!

Act Together would be nice too. Woody has some fine solo stuff and I agree he needs to get a song in, but with so many Stones songs that get neglected this is highly unlikely to ever happen.

Yeah, well I like the idea of a tribute to the guy who helped rescue their asses in '75, '78, '86, etc. and has helped keep them together and vital for 37 years.
