Thanks Voodoo.
I was kind of excited at the opening, as the muted guitar riff fade-in sounded kind of like the electric piano on Marvin's "Heard It Through the Grapevine", and the stand alone vocals were pretty effective. But then it just went into the old, standard, mid-90's electro beat. Sounds like one of the 'Voodoo Lounge' or 'Bridges...' remixes. Dumb.

Probably sounds fine in a club (they always do), but adds nothing to the song. Just makes it monotonous.

Yeats...nice comparison to "Grapevine"...i do not think I would have thought of that...

Nice mix...always love great dance/club mixes...especially when the Stones are involved***...

It has a nice subtle gothy subtext...especially at the 3;00+  mark

*** if anyone has a nice compilation of Stones club/dance mix...i would love to own it...

Yo, Android. I listened to it a couple more times (albeit on crappy little computer speakers), and , ya know, it's not so bad as I originally made it out to be.

Don't get me wrong - I love the whole remix ethic and concept (whatever that means), and I've loved lots of of remixes/dance/club mixes from all sorts of artists through the years.
It's just that, to my ears, dated 130 BPM electro/house beat which has long out stayed it's welcome. It's like: everybody's using the same technology these last few years (Protools and whatnot) that often stuff can sound very "samey", literally generic. (same thing happened with a lot of hip hop in the early '90's as well, causing musical stagnation for the genre, I reckon).

But anyway, I am glad the Stones still do it and keep up and prove their shit's as vital and contemporary as anyone's (just wish they could do some remix/dub/dance things as brilliantly as they pulled off on "Undercover" and "Too Much Blood"; those don't sound dated to me at all).

why does a song that already sounds like a shitty remix need a remix version???

I have never met a Stones fan that was excited by a remixed Stones song. But these are probably not aimed at us. But most of the dancing people won't care for the Stones, so I guess it's a lot of fuss for a very small crowd. Didn't make it to the finish either...
