Strip it down '81 style!

Agree. The dude's actually a great singer - great character, nearly perfect pitch, and on the Brian-era stuff his backing vocals were very, very creative - almost sounding disonant or slightly off-key, to a beautiful and haunting effect.

Sure, he's older now, but he could surely adjust his vocals to his abilities today (see his '89-'90 backing vox on "Ruby Tuesday" for an example).

Kudos to Keith on this - he sounds lovely. The only thing that could make this better is if Jagger sang the right damn lyric. It drives me nuts when he sings "after love dies," instead of the correct (and INFINITELY better) "after we die." The wrong lyric there just doesn't have the same emotional OOMPH as the right one, not to mention is misses out on the inherent cleverness: "Let's do some living after we die." Keeps the subjects the same from a syntactical point, which makes more sense. (Can you tell I'm an English major?)

But that's just me. I'm really just glad the boys are back and kicking ass. :-)
