Post by Bingo on Oct 24th, 2012 at 11:52pm
..the fuckin captcha is impossible to read....two words, no number. Plus if you get the right letters, the continue button freezes.

Something strange is going on. I NEVER had captcha letters so hard to read.

Good Luck if you try.

regulation is needed, this has become a total consumer getting screwed, ripping off people industry. I wonder how many in this industry are for executives from the recording industry... This has nothing to do with the artist and fans...

They're all in it together.

Instead of forking out for these tickets, every Stones fan - and indeed every music fan in general - should spend a few quid and buy this book instead

http://www.amazon.com/Ticket-Masters-Concert-Industry-Scalped/dp/1550229494

Reading this book won't make you any happier about spending four hundred bucks to go to a rock show but you'll understand how it happened and who's to blame. --Bill Flanagan, author Evening's Empire, A&R

If you wonder why you're paying ten times as much for overblown, cross-promoted spectacles that are one-tenth as satisfying as the rock and roll of your youth, you need to read this book. -- Steve Silberman, editor, Wired magazine

For anyone who's ever suffered rock concert sticker shock -- and we all have -- Dean Budnick and Josh Baron's Ticket Masters is the best seat in the house to the show behind the show. --Fred Goodman, author Fortune's Fool and The Mansion on the Hill

Dean Budnick and Josh Baron brilliantly chronicle the storied history of ticketing, providing a front row seat to the back room drama. A must-read for any music business enthusiast. --Shirley Halperin, Music Editor, The Hollywood Reporter

When community meets commerce, things gets complicated. In Ticket Masters, Josh Baron and Dean Budnick take you behind the box office and explain the real reasons a good seat costs so damn much. --Alan Light, former Editor-in-Chief, Vibe and Spin

If I read this, I'm afraid I'll never want to buy another ticket for any event.  Kind of like after seeing Jaws - the Beach was never the same.

Seriously, it is way out of hand and the control that those Ticket Bastards have over events is sickening.  As one of the promos for this book reads, "why is Ticketmaster NOT considered a monopoly?"

Surprise surprise, TM is back to one word and number this morning.

Fckn bastards.

The captcha, as you see, was soooo bad, I switched to the audio. That was IMPOSSIBLE to understand what they were saying.

I'd like to know how the IRS views this ticket process. Do they get teh taxes on the huge markups these scalping companies charge? Ticketbastard is a monopoly and should be investigated for how they use these "messages" to let folks buy. They claim it is to stop scalperes software from auto buys. My hunch is that it is to help the scalpers software or they have pre=sold to the scalpers before the public even gets a chance. But really it starts with the band. If Mick had said he we will take $2 million a show the whole scenario would have changed....at least the face value of the tickets.

Man, God Bless The Grateful Dead and their mail order system they had. I'm not sure how many tix they took off the top before TM got a few, but mail order seemed to come through most of the time.

They use to sell "Tour Books" go on the entire tour, as well as individual venues.  :nomames

Great book. Coincidentally, I have hardly been to any major concerts this year. Even bands I used to go see multiple times, like Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, whatever, I just pass.

And TM is not a monopoly because the customers are the venues who tend to be very happy with the arrangements.

The government has better things to do.

If I have a concert ticket I can sell it for whatever I want.

I agree you can... i'm not talking about you or any individual, i'm talking about the promoters, original seller like TM and the borkers... there is major corruption.

"VIAGOGO - THE GREAT TICKET SCANDAL"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWlnL8drSdw

This show was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK earlier this year - its about 45 minutes long.

Well worth watching and with the help of some undercover reporting really exposes Viagogo for what they are.

Its amazing theyre still in business after this.

Yet, as of now - a week after the shows went on sale - they still have between 2,500 and 3,000 tickets for sale for EACH of the four shows

http://tickets.telegraph.co.uk/rolling-stones-tickets/

So, approximately 12.5% of the tickets for these concerts are currently in the possession of ONE broker site.

And they're far from the only one.

ROLLING STONES TICKETS
Livin' on a prayer? £12 tickets for Bon Jovi gig shames Stones ticket prices

28 Oct 2012 23:00
Bon Jovi’s promoter said the band felt that rock fans were being priced out of the market

Bon Jovi are offering fans a lot more satisfaction than the Rolling Stones – selling tickets for their gigs from just £12.50.

The Livin’ On A Prayer rockers have stepped in with their cut-price offer after the Stones announced it would cost from £95 up to £375 to see them on their 50th anniversary tour.

But touts are flogging the tickets for thousands.

Smart punters on secondary ticket resale sights were selling their seats for a staggering £13,000.

Stones tickets are still available via Mirror Tickets, priced from £342 a ticket.

Rob Hallett, Bon Jovi’s UK tour promoter from AEG Live, said the band felt that rock fans were being priced out of the market and were determined to act.

“I was delighted when they came to me insisting on ticket prices for the Because We Can Tour next year that enabled all to attend,” Mr Hallett said.

“If we are to survive as an industry we need to move away from the elitist image of high prices and even higher secondary prices.

“After all rock and roll always was and always should be the music of the people and that means everyone.”

A Bon Jovi source added: “We are in the middle of a recession and that’s why the band think £12.50 is perfect.”

A spokesman for promoter Virgin Live , who are putting on the Stones gigs, has insisted: ”The ticket prices are in fact spread over a range of costs and are comparable and similar to other huge shows and attractions.”

I, like the rest of you, hate the ass holes at Ticketmaster.  And I absolutely do believe that they have a very heavy hand in the way concerts have been presented over the last 25 years.  I do want all of you to think of one thing here in the process and a possible devil in disguise: the artist.

Do you guys think the Stones are completely innocent in the process of us getting charged a ton of money for concert tickets?  It's a nice system that's been setup.  Ticketmaster takes a nice chunk of money from the artists because they get to be the evil middle man, the company that can take all the scathing blame.  But what about the Rolling Stones?

Hate Ticketmaster for these prices, but bring your anger to the feet of Jagger and Richards as well.
