So if all goes to plan I shall definiely be there for BOTH shows...

Public tickets arent available until Friday.

I doubt I'll be going. The % of tickets in the category I'm willing to pay is probably quite low. £150 is my limit and the next price up is £350 and I wouldnt pay that on principle even for a front row ticket.

The stonesarchive presale was an offer of the Brussels Affair package which had been available to the public already since Monday...and which costs £651 a ticket - with just one unsigned box per order (do they assume that when people buy two tickets, they live in the same household?)

I think some people may be surprised at the amount of fans who are passing on these shows.

I've been testing the AMEX presale on the UK tickets for two days now. Right from the beginning all I could pull were tickets in the first tier at the back of the arena and quite high up for £406. I've kept testing to see what comes up and as of yesterday afternoon, for the Sunday show, the tickets available now are in section 403 and the price is STILL £406. If section 403 is £406, where in the hell are the cheaper tickets?

It also looks like Sunday's show is outselling Thursday's. Better seats coming up for Thursday.

Oh, and the uber-expensive fan packages are sold out for both shows. Over £1000 per ticket, counting VAT.

The demand is there, I guess.

Good luck to everyone for Friday's on sale.

"I think some people may be surprised at the amount of fans who are passing on these shows."

I'm 99.99% sure I'm going the PPV route myself.
Even if I DO score a ticket in my price range, I cannot justify shelling out airfare and lodging fees to sit
in the nosebleeds, WHEN I CAN HAVE A FRONT ROW SEAT IN MY LIVING ROOM, complete with my drink, smoke and munchies of choice.

Factor in the dicey weather in Buffalo in December (flight delays) and proximity to Christmas and it ended up being an easier decision than I thought.

I can wait for 2013 shows. They aren't done after these 4 shows.
I  WILL see them again live. That I know.

A tour is absolutely in the works for next year.

My guess is that you'll probably see US shows by the spring.

In 2007 we packed the Pilot inn for the 3 02 pre show parties. I called them in advance and made sure they had extra staff on those days.

This year I reckon a small table in the corner will be all thats required.

Yes, I'm totally in the same boat, and I'm fine with it.  PPV's are always great parties, and we will all see our Boys in the spring.

Life is good!

Dunno. Maybe a mix of both arenas and stadiums like last time, in the States anyway. It depends on how crazy the band's demands are. Last time they priced themselves out of several arenas and shows had to take place in stadiums instead to give the local promoters a chance to make any money. I suppose in 'A' markets like New York, LA, Chicago etc they could play arena shows similar to what they'll be doing later this year.

Not as unlikely as $6 million per show guarantees for arenas in more than about 5-10 cities.

Seriously dont recommend the cheapest seats in the 02. VERY very high up even by arena standards.

Certainly better than nothing if you live locally and dont have to factor flights and hotels into the equation, but if youre going to all THAT trouble and expense, it would be pretty anti-climactic I think.

having been up in those seats for the 1st show in 2007, i wouldn't go up there again.
and i paid approx 85£ then.
Very high, breathtakingly steep, and appaling view....
& let's now even bother talking about the sound quality.

They are "i was there" seats.
nothing else.

I am flabbergasted at the insane prices, some of our friends over at IORR, have paid
for very, very poor (and at best, average, seats), in this morning's 'presales'

200£ + for a top tier seat!
400£ + for a lower tier seat!

a heady cocktail of nostalgia & emotional blackmail is proving to be big business.
Even during a recession.

Quite staggering to comprehend what some people are prepared to pay for 2 hours of entertainment.  :scary

Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary concert tickets too expensive?
Published 58 minutes ago

Jonathan Short/AP The Rolling Stones are touring - again.
Paul Irish
Entertainment Reporter

For the price The Rolling Stones are charging for its 50th anniversary
performances, the late Brian Jones had better be on stage.

VIP tickets for London’s two shows are going for almost $1,500.

Of course that includes a meal, champagne the works … but seriously?

Even standard tickets — going for about $145 to $590 — have many loyal fans searching their pockets and coming up with only lint and disappointment.

And if that’s not enough, the band is releasing a limited-edition box set next month for $1,500 each.

Reality check: Do these well-healed dudes really need to charge their faithful following that much coin after five decades of partying, er, I mean work?

Is it all about auto payments, topping up those meagre retirement funds … stashing a few quid away for the annual summer jaunt to Blackpool with the Beckhams and all the lime and lager you can put away?

It’s reported that front man Sir Mick “The Rooster” Jagger has a net worth of about $305 million.

Industry insiders say the aging rockers — who, of course, have a huge following — are set to make about $25 million on just four gigs.

The band will perform at the O2 arena slated for Nov. 25 and 29 and then fly over the pond to perform at the prudential centre in Newark, N.J., December 13 and 15.

The Daily Mail is reporting there’s been a bit of “dis-Satisfaction” among fans with some even calling for a boycott on the concerts.

The Twitterverse erupted shortly after the prices were announced with one user complaining: “How can the ticket prices be so high? Trying to get a loan. My one chance to see you and the price is shocking. Gutted.”

Another tweet lamented: “Boss has just bought 3 tunnel pit tickets to see the Rolling Stones @ the O2 for the 50th anniversary tour! Ouch on the prices!”

The gigs will be the group’s first tour since a two-year marathon took them around the globe, ending in 2007.

Industry magazines say “Mick and the boys” don’t have to worry about any pushback and all four shows will easily sellout when tickets go on sale this Friday.

The group has a combined age of 273 with Jagger turning 70 next summer.

I'm holding out on the theory that your money will take you further once general sale starts since the limited proportion of good seats held for presale waves sell out in an instant, leaving poor seats for big prices.

On the other hand, although Friday may see a greater amount of good seats released, it also sees a maaaaaasssssssss of people scooping them up.

The underlying summation seems to be 'pot luck' and the overarching reality is that only the Stones are getting a good deal

Well I couldn't help myself and got a "Tongue Pit" ticket for the 25th this morning during the FB pre-sale...had 12 minutes to think about it and...the last time I saw them was in Oakland 2002 so I guess I'd saved on the 2003, 2006 and 2007 shows for that.

I don't think I would have paid that much for seats, even good ones, but the pit should be a once in a lifetime experience and I'm 6'3" too so the view should be perfect. I have fond memories of the B-stage in San Jose 99 and Oakland 2002 so that should top it by far.

How much is the hotel you'd found Gazza ? Is it close to the O2 ? I might pass on the hotel altogether and catch a train back first thing on Monday morning, so looking forward to meeting some rocksoffers for drinks after (and before !) the show !

£375 plus fees, a TON but better than the previous Tongue Pit tickets available via the VIP package (£950+VAT)x2 and since some Level 4 seats also cost £375...I don't think the £95/£150/£245 tickets get you anything better than Level 4 based on posts on IORR.

I dont know where these £245 tickets come from - they only seem to exist on things like Amex presales. Theyre not listed for the public sale.

The only £150 tickets are on Level 1, along with £375 tickets (the latter will no doubt be in the majority). I'd imagine the £150 tickets will be at the far end of the area or in the corner.

Most Level 4 tickets will be £95. Plus a few at £375, bizarrely. Presumably theyre in the sections level with the stage.

It could be that they got rid of some "bad" tickets during the pre-sale, there is a guy from Spain on IORR who paid £245 and got very high

Good to hear that there are some £150 on Level 1, I thought that would be £375 tickets only.

Hope you get it, 25 minutes to go now !

for shits & giggles i played along with the ticket stampede, this morning, to see what the score was.

Predictably Ticketmaster were flashing the
"we're experiencing high demand, you're in a queue" line, with no other movement.

Switched to Seetickets, where i was offered, almost immediately, tickets in block 419
for 406£
...needless to say, i didn't take up their highly generous offer.

and, errr, that was it. Nothing else was offered.  :scary

Pass.

Nothing for £150 anywhere and then mysteriously at 9.40 am I get offered a pair - in the 400's, even though it clearly stated on TM they would be on the first tier. Seetickets had 'no tickets available' in some categories by around 9.10 and then about 20 minutes later were offering tickets in then. The usual circle jerk.

First Stones UK tour I've missed since 1976 and the strange thing is that I sort of feel good about myself that I didnt bite and spend silly money on bad tickets.

Crap! I was afraid this would be the case. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope a ticket comes your way.
I have never been to the 02 without you.    :'(

Just for fun (and self torture) I went to ticketBASTARD at 6:00 am EST and could pull NOTHING up at ANY price range. Tried Best Available for 1 seat and NOTHING. Mick must be thrilled.  :perverted

Gazza, I predict you will be at one or both of these shows.

I was checking the seating chart for the NJ show and the only seats I can afford would turn out to be the worst seats I've ever had for a concert - let alone a Stones show. I really hope that they cannot sell out these 4 shows quickly. Maybe that will tip them off that we are not puppets with open wallets.

Today has, sadly, proved that for the most part, we are.

the amount of people who complained about the prices and then not only paid them, but paid them for awful seats just encourages the Stones organisation to persist with this nonsense. Newark will be no different.

Every tour they rip people off than they did the previous time. And every time there's enough people desperate or stupid enough (and I've been guilty of that myself) to throw self respect out the window. We've reaped what we sowed to some extent by encouraging it instead of saying 'no' occasionally.  The fast sales for these shows doesnt augur well for being cut much slack for next year.

Very, very few people seem to have got the cheapest nosebleeds. And the only lower level (Floor 1) tickets that I saw listed that werent THAT outrageous (£150) seem to have barely existed either.

Like I said the other day, its not the price range thats significant, its the % of tickets in each price range that is. And there appear to be hardly any at all in those cheaper ranges.

Does anyone know the ticket prices for huge mega events like the Super Bowl, World Cup, etc? I paid 150 bucks for a Phillies World Series game 4 ticket in 2009 in section 427. I think it was usually a $20.00 seat. In the world of Formula 1 - did anyone catch the ticket prices for the US Grand Prix coming up? Donald Trump and his friends are the only people who can afford to go.

World Cup Final youre talking about a couple of grand a ticket, although a lot of those tickets are for corporate sponsors.

Obviously for games during the final tournament its a lot less.

However, the comparison for Stones tickets should be rock concerts by their peers in the entertainment world. Not sporting events. After all, 'Its only rock n roll' isn't it?

each seat behind the stage at about $250 comes with a mirror so you see how stupid you look paying for your seat.

I recall about a year ago, Ticketmaster or Live Nation ( at least here in USA) made a statement
that they would soon start to  apply "Dynamic pricing levels to major events"...
Maybe this is the testing ground for it...

I am wondering just how much visability there is from the Tongue Pit? When I saw U2 on the last tour, the pit area was horrible. I had seat right next to the stage and level w/ the stage as well...
The Pit Peeps, had their necks bent all the way back the entire time...I know they could not see the INCREDIBLE stage and 360 Screens or the visuals. No matter
how miraculous Bono fancies himself, he can only be in one spot at a time and the rest of the band does not move much. Those
Pit tix were the worst...almost as bad as the Stones "part of the stage"seats from 2005.

BTW...3 days before the show, the papered the area w/ $250.00 seats that sold for $31.00....I was my wife's hero that night!!!

Truth is that they have raised the bar on the live experience for a stadium like no other band has ever done...the sound and stage of 360 were Superior to anyone else. Nobody had a bad seat except those who didn't have a seat

Don't think so! 02 sold out pretty fast, maybe this 2 sold out faster then in 2007.
If you'll agree on a nosebleed for 400 quid, we'll keep on getting this prices. It's the fault of the stones and promoters who set this prices, and the cow's who are willing to pay high prices for bad/ lousy seats

each to their own I guess. Yep, I paid top dollar for my 2 tickets but i'm happy with the result and the seats. Floor and Level 1. Pretty happy too that the exchange rate between the AUD and GBP is a hell of alot better than 5 years ago so Ive theoretically paid the same as I did last time.
I do agree with alot that has been said and yes, the prices are steep and I aint no millionaire but I love the stones and I need a holiday, its a good excuse for me, works well.

I can't remember if it was the Stones or Macca but about 10 years ago someone was wondering what they would be charging and they used Barbara Streisand as a comparison and saying that she was an old (sic) woman and that if she could charge $300 (I think it was at the time), the Stones (or Macca) could certainly do it too...
