the funny thing about SS leaving, was he was active on MySpace at the time... now looking back, you really see how much has changed...

The person I miss the most is someone called, "badtastetext", who used to post on the boards at www.mickjagger.com.  According to her, (I have no way of verifying if any of this was true.), but she claimed to be homeless and living in Germany.  She would use the computers at the public library.

Anyways, she always responded to my posts.  I would type something, and the next day, there would be a comment from her.  It wasn't always nice, but she was funny and witty, full of sarcasm.  I truly miss her.

I hope she's doing okay.

The intolerance that has flown here and elsewhere turned a lot of people off.

I know I've been guilty of it...I stopped posting because it wasn't fun fighting with people anymore.

Glencar wasn't banned,he left on his own.....And LJ. Olive branches have to work both ways. None were offered either way and I'm pretty sure wouldn't be accepted by Mr Conservative anyway.

Is your question whether he was fabricating the entire story?

Because my understanding of the situation was his employer came to him and specifically questioned him on comments he had made on this message board by name.

I suppose someone could have wandered onto this board, read an offensive comment from him, and then somehow tracked him down and contacted his employer.  But that's pretty thin.

Those that post/posted here frequently knew who his employer was.

So yeah, "allegedly"....

See, here's the thing. I'm fine with the first part of this. I opened myself up for anything anyone wanted to say by leaving the way I did. I'm sure there was much worse stuff said about me. I brought it on myself, and I regret losing my temper. It's the last part, about the Hershey show. I don't think Glencar was even there! There was a pretty big gathering of ROers in the parking lot before the show - I remember Luxy was there, SS, Marko, Maxmeister - so if Glennie WAS there, he must've been POUTING ACROSS THE STREET! (rimshot!)

I was there with my girlfriend AND my son. And no one in their right mind would ever mistake the two, unless he seriously thought my 13-year-old son had ample bosoms and his hair up in pigtails. So, although I thank Glencar for "keeping this story quiet", I think there's no strong reason for us not to talk a little smack about him from time to time. We're playing by his rules.

Yesterday in the thread where all of the usual right-wing assholes were desperately trying to stick up for their hero Rush Limbaugh, frantically erecting strawmen and changing the subject, I somehow missed Telecaster's comments about my girlfriend. Not even original - basically a rehash of the same reprehensible, cowardly and oh-so-Republican tactics employed by Tele's boyfriend Fiji, who later (upping his own cowardice dramatically) later denied ever saying it, and very reminiscent of their idol Dick Cheney in outing Valerie Plame. Like I said, I missed it, until SHE read it a minute ago and pointed it out to me. Of course she's insulted, hurt, probably confused as to why she's being attacked here where she rarely even posts, and highly disappointed in me for continuing to post here, opening her up to attacks by assholes she doesn't even know. And she's right about all of that. I love her more than anything, and there's certainly nothing here that is even remotely as important as that. God knows I don't care much about the Stones anymore - dried up old greedy men wringing every last penny out of people who can't decide whether they passed their peak 20 or 30 years ago. I've got some friends here, but they all know what my email address is, and they know they're welcome at my house anytime they're in the neighborhood.

I've also got some enemies here, and anyone who thinks "we all love the Stones, that's all that matters" is insane. The differences between us are life and death. We're not even of the same species. So Tele, as well as Fiji, Max, Nanker, Riffy and your few pathetic right-wing groupies - fuck off. The future will judge you for your views, even if you held them solely for the purpose of pissing off liberals.


Hmmm. Actually, now that I re-read that, it doesn't seem all THAT crazy. A bit hyperbolic, but I was basically sticking up for my girlfriend. We're no longer together, but she's still a dear friend, and I would still choose her company over that of any internet pals if another "pouting across the street" situation arose. On that also-infamous occasion, I was WITH MY GIRLFRIEND across the street. I didn't want to leave her there, and I damn sure didn't want to drag her over to a gathering of people who had been calling her a "fat chick" for weeks (even if it was only to piss ME off).

Of the people I named at the end of my "flameout", I sincerely regret including Nankerphelge, who I always thought was a good guy, and still do. Politics are poison, and one should always re-consider before hitting the "post" button.  As for the rest of those folks - I thought I called them nazis, I guess it was in the title of the post - it seems like none of them are here anymore. I'm not too ashamed of telling Tele or Fiji or Riffy to fuck off, not because of politics, but because they were such unpleasant people.

I've mellowed quite a bit in the past few years. I'm not trying to be Hunter S. Thompson anymore. I was diagnosed with MS in 2010, and I guess it's taught me to get my priorities straight.  

So anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah - FUCK Glencar. He was a lying little bitch, and I can only assume that he still is.

Thanks. I was also sorry to hear about your medical problems, and hope your recovery is progressing.  

So far, having MS has made walking difficult for me, but daily injections of Copaxone are keeping worse symptoms at bay, knock wood.  

And sorry to the UT for talking smack about Glencar, but I'm part Irish too (me middle name is Brennan)! And I was a little shocked to find out about  the deep dark secret he kept for me all those years, God bless him.

Well, there are usuallyat least two sides to every story.
Everyone has their own version of the facts and/or what they think the facts are.
Doubt we will ever know what really happened.  

All I said was I met glencar and I thought he was a nice guy.
I read the same things that everyone else did and, as LJ said, didn't always agree with what was said by him or others for that matter.

People on the other side of the drawn lines, to use your phrase, were plenty over-the-top too.  It wasn't as if glencar had a monopoly on nasty, personal attacks.  

As I said, I was guilty of it too.
And, frankly, so were you.

or, if you are threatened, you can stand your ground and take action to insure your childrens safety, which is what I did, and let everyone on here know it.... and, here I thought I was special.  Do y'all remember when I was banned from posting on the OFFICIAL Rolling Stones website?  I could still visit the site and read all the posts, but I could not post anything.

And, all I did was defend undocumented workers, post some famous literary quotes by Jose Marti, Cervantes etc. and finally I "pulled up" all the posts about Mick Jagger which were posted by other fans.  (Some of them were older posts that no one had bothered to respond to in years, and I all did was respond to them and agree with them.  Things like:  Yes, Micky is super sexy!

It's interesting, because you would think they would want those type of posts from the fans.

Anyways, C'est la vie!  I was spending way too much time on the internet at the time.

I've personally met a small crowd of national (and international) rocksoff members, and they were a blast. It was a brief meeting, and I hope it won't be the last one. That's in the real life..

Through a screen, glencar showed me a good deal of support, while I was having some ridiculous rough time (at the old rocksoff board). I was drunk (no kidding?), more than a decade ago; I was in no good spirit, moaning, and deciding to show my emotions in public, so I wrote some alcoholic masochistic stuff; he had the good will to respond with a polite message of comfort, telling me that I was not too bad. He was kind and that's what I think people ought to be, and not only in the virtual world of the internet. I wish the best to glencar.

I also liked, particularly, the posts from a fellow who called himself Bloozehound, I think (his avatar, a mexican skull, I suppose, inspired by the the ZZTop Mescalero album). I don't recall if Bloozehound was his real nickname, but I recall his hilarious responses and good taste in music (a J. J. Cale appreciator is always welcomed anywhere).

Of course, there were also MaxLugar; I briefly posted at his site. He had (and I hope he still has, if he's ok) a terrific sense of humor. Fiji was interesting, and Lambchop was intelligent. All of these people had one thing in common: they had a wonderful sense of humor.

fireontheplatter was a true original. Where did he go? And whatever happened to Sunny? Did he ever speak with Tony?

I enjoyed to read posts by Ten Thousand Motels, but I believe he got ill, years ago. If he's resting in peace, RIP.

Funny to notice that most of the folks that made the transition have been around the boards before they went. I arrived here pretty late in the game, yet I remember just about everyone of them from The Couch and G3...I think the only board I never posted on is Doug's. Lurked there once or twice, that's it. I remember hearing over here that TTM had health issues. Sucks. He always was a good guy on the boards. So I share the sentiment Bucks: I hope he's doing well...

I think I established, through proven techniques, not that it was difficult, that portly twit was actually an unemployed, true internet basement geek, that couldn't even afford his own liquor, throughout his term here.  Subsequent events in Chicago may have shown I was correct.  Anyone?
