I've written an analysis on whether the Stones will play the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony tonight. Please let me know your thoughts / if you have anything to add!

Not happening. The Stones will not be performing but the songs of The Rolling Stones may be played in some kind of medley of British music.

Will the Stones drop the ball tonight?

You Know this is weird, it looks as if they  just might be expected to play.
But to be sure it would have leaked out by now!

So far, I think Ill only be able to stomach The Who {The Two} and Annie Lennox......the Spice Girls? REALLY??

It was probobly a marketing ploy...I suspect one or two solo things might be in the works...why else??
It is the equivelent of re-grouping Right Said Fred or... Stereo MC ( Whom I would have loved to have seen, BTW)

Last night NBC edited out Ray Davies performance of Waterloo Sunset.

That was a very poor decision. But as stated above, The Stones didnt even get a clip like Bowie did !!

I feel like I wasted my evening.

thats right!!! i saw him on the list of performers . sad we americans miss the one performer whose work embodies so much of the national heritage and sang the quintessential london ballad gets cut.

Wonderful moment and THE perfect choice of song for the occasion. I had a lump in my throat watching it.

I cant believe that NBC pay zillions of dollars for TV rights every Olympics and then choose to delay, edit and absolutely butcher coverage the way that they do. Thank fuck I dont have to watch it. Going by what I've read on here and on facebook over the last 2-3 weeks, I'd be tearing out what little hair I have left if thats the standard of coverage I was presented with.

For all the (often merited) flak the BBC get, they absolutely pushed the boat out with their TV coverage. They added 24 temporary TV digital 'BBC Olympic' channels for the duration of the games (all of them with the added option of HD) and their main two terrestrial channels had blanket coverage as well. EVERY sport was covered comprehensively. There's really no excuse in the age of digital and interactive TV for a major broadcaster to shortchange the viewing public at the biggest event on the planet.

The NBC camera men were worn out capturing all the action at ladies beach volleyball......so they left early.

I'm not amazed in the least. I don't agree with NBC's decision, but I'm hardly amazed they did that.

It probably would have been the same story at ABC or CBS, as well.
Political correctness has become so extreme in American media that any major broadcast company would be absolutely scared fucking shitless of "offending" in the slightest any group of people.

That was great, Ray Davies-Kinks get recognized, his songs were always representing England way of life, great to see this.

It would have been nice if Micky would have closed the show singing, "Love Train".
