Now I know why I would be scared to have Keith driving me around. :forfucksake
10 Outrageous Things You Didn't Know About The Rolling Stones Ana Douglas | Jul. 26, 2012, 12:15 PM Getty Images In honor of their 50th Stage Anniversary, The eBook People have released a breathtaking 2,000 pages on the Rolling Stones, including amazing rare photos of the band members. We've already given you a sneak peek of the beautiful photos, but now we want to give you a small preview of what to expect in "50 Years: The Rolling Stones – Views from the Inside, Views from the Outside" by providing you with ten outrageous facts about Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts, Brian Jones, and Bill Wyman: Charlie Watts secretly wed Shirley Ann Shepherd, a plasterer's daughter, on October 14, 1964. He tried to keep it a secret because the group thought he should stay a bachelor. Watts explained, "I tried to keep it a secret. I wanted it to be a secret. But I suppose if Kruschev can't keep a secret, neither can I." Fourteen hotels turned the band down when they tried to find a comfortable bed in New York City for their American tour in June and July 1966. This wasn't just because of their reputation as short-tempered hotel room wreckers. It was also because of the increasing difficulties of keeping the fans at bay. Keith Richards failed his driving test three times and sent his minder instead to impersonate him. The minder eventually passed on Richards' behalf. Jean Shrimpton had a fling first with Keith Richards, then with Brian Jones, and then settled down with Mick Jagger. Up until December 4, 1965 the band members had steered clear of drugs. But that fateful day in December was a turning point for most of them. Keith Richards, Brian Jones, and Mick Jagger (alongside poet Allen Ginsberg) attended an acid test organized by the Merry Pranksters, a group dedicated to introducing others to LSD. Only Mick refrained from participating, but Jones and Richards quickly became converts. In describing drugs, Richards explained, "the idea behind it was very pure. Everybody at that point was prepared to use himself as a laboratory." It was a slippery slope for Brian Jones and drugs. By 1966, he had become obsessed with devouring celebs and fame and attention. On tour, Jones was by now drinking one and a half liters of whiskey a day. He was popping pills by the handful, "downers" as well as amyl nitrite, and thoroughly enjoyed his hallucinogens – peyote, acid, mushrooms and whatever else was close to hand. Mick Jagger doesn't shy away from diaper duty. In fact, he's quite good at it. "I've always changed nappies, for other people's children as well as my own," he said. "I change[d] Ronnie Wood's children's nappies. You do these things when it's necessary – although I'm not about to become a full-time house-husband like John Lennon did at one stage [but] I'm relatively experienced and I quite enjoy it." Mick Jagger's raunchy blockbuster, "She's The Boss," (released in 1985) in which he appeared in drag, set the rocker back a staggering £30,000 in frocks, frills, powder and paint – and that was just for his costume. Later Jagger admitted that he was "still the sexiest bit of skirt around." Ronnie Wood never had an affair with Margaret Trudeau, the wife of Canada' Prime Minster, Pierre Trudeau. She did however, he admits, "boogie with them" for a couple of days while the band was on tour. Bill Wyman, the bass guitarist, has kept a diary of the group ever since they started in 1961. He has written over 22,000 words stored on four computers. He planned to write an inside story of the most raunchy band pop has ever known. So Ken Kesey turned Keith and Brian onto acid? An Oregon connection; cool. Kesey was the last person I spoke with before leaving Eugene for Harvard Law School. Too bad Brian didn't stick with psychedelics and stay away from the pharmaceutical downers; the Man's dope kills, dude.

Um....wonder if they meant Chrissie Shrimpton instead of Jean Shrimpton....? :-/ Not that they couldn't have all had a fling with her, but Chrissie is the one who settled down with Mick...

Absolutely correct, so they weren't on the ball on that one, I don't think psychedelics did Brian any good, I think that screwed him up more then anything, John Lennon once said (And he was a regular user of acid) that he's taken hundred's of trips, asked if he had bad trips he said he's had so many that's why he stopped using it. |

Don't know how true this story is, but I've read somewhere that Anita said that Brian had a bad trip his first time out with LSD. And, she thought he never fully recovered from it....

Gerardo, I just saw two extremely good movies in a row, which is strange, since most of the stupid things that are being played at cinemas are Batman, Spiderman or horse-related movies (yeah -- I', talking to you, Spielberg). (I didn't watch those extremely two good movies in a row at the cinemas.)
One is Margaret. It's really cool, and you get the chance to see the Metropolitan theater (the stairs, the outside and, most importantly, THE BAR. That's what I call culture; getting drunk in order to watch and listen to something good.) The other one is Project X, which will go down in history as one of the most underrated movies of all time. And I'm not kidding. The Hangover was good, but it had some sort of moral odor to it (which is the main flaw in Spielberg -- that and John Williams). Good movie. It made me laugh. Alcohol is bad, though, maybe people should stop drinking and hug a small tree. |

She did indeed, but to complicate the story even further, the girlfriend who admitted to sleeping with all three of them before settling on Mick was actually Marianne Faithfull, not Chrissie Shrimpton, let alone her more famous sister. Some really sloppy research in this article - as you generally find when its written by some hack promising to tell you 'ten things you didnt know' ! |

Ahhhh, yes. Marianne. I wasn't sure if she'd actually slept with Brian before, as I recall stories about them, but he was so out of it that nothing really happened. But...thanks for that input, Gazza! ;D I always SO appreciate all of your input----and all the stuff you know!! 8-) 8-) |

I met Mick backstage in Sydney on his solo tour. After our meet and greet he was leaving the backstage area, jammed full of plastic wannabees, everyone was being 'too cool to look' but I shouted at him 'kick ass Mick' he turned, smiled a big grin at me and said in his cockney twang ' I plan too!' . He then strutted out like the king. Everyone turned to look at me and I strutted out of there.

Mick gave his water bottle to Corgi on the Bang tour in Sydney.
By 'giving' it I mean he threw it at us and Corgs caught it. |

Brian drinking a liter and a half of whiskey a day in sounds fairly fair-fetched. Sounds more like Ronnie in the 90s. :aimama

That actually comes from Bill's Book where it's mentioned, Brian could easily have been an alcoholic, in the 60's there was A.A. but not as widely accepted like now, same as treatment centers, Brian relied on Dr.'s (who in Mick's words) only gave him more pills to take, mental illness was treated the same way but not with the drugs they have now, they used to give strong drugs to knock the person out or be like a zombie, I remember my Mother who passed away in 1980, who was never diagnosed right, she suffered from Manic Depression, the Dr. gave her such strong drugs that when she was out in public she had to sit down, couldn't stand up to long, it's like the saying "enough drugs to knock a small water Buffalo over" |

Not saying that Brian wasn't a deeply troubled man, but does Bill specifically mention that huge an intake? Talk about knocking a buffalo over. The British health system did next to nothing for Syd Barrett too. |

Why did it take four computers to store 22,000 words? Even these babies would've been more efficient than THAT. |
