After close to 30 years in radio, it will feel wierd not being on air.

Sorry to hear it Deathgod. Try not to let this diminish your self esteem. Men usually have a strong tie to their jobs and when that tie is cut, sometimes they spiral out of control like a baloon letting out the air. So keep in control and design a plan to reorganize and rejuvinate. Good luck man. You'll find something else, hopefully with some people who know the difference between a Kiss tongue and a Stones tongue!

I got the boot two years ago and was fortunate to find something new within a few weeks through my network of people I worked with over theyears. In hindsight I can say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I hope you can say the same in a while too.

Beware the power of social media. The same thing happened in San Francisco recently. A local radio station fired a long time morning DJ and his producer and brought in a former shock jock trying to go straight. But,everyone quckly found out about his past.Plus he sucked trying to do a normal show. People flooded the stations Facebook page and started FB groups demanding the station remove the new DJ. Some of the comments toward the station program director got very ugly and personal. But after only 10 days on the air,the PD fired the new guy. Didn't bring back the old DJ,but hired another longtime local personality to do a safer type of show. Funny to hear the same thing happening down under. Here,we could lay the blame on the evil corporate giant Cumulus. Hope Mobbsy gets job back in Aussie. Or,better yet. Moves on to somethng even better.

I have been totally overwhelmed by the support I have been getting. It has really surprised me and blown me away.
I'm sure I won't get my job back, but the feedback has been nuts.
I have been very lucky to have so many people say and do kind things the past few days.
I'm also aware that lots of other people are losing their jobs around the world who will be in far worse positions than myself.
Some of the FB comments have been pretty funny.

It kinda feels like I have been grieving the past few days. Bewilderment, the feeling of it happening to someone else, anger, sadness and now ...a kinda acceptance.

At least I don't have to play that soft cock cruddy Nanna friendly pop schtick anymore.
