Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary whiskey: Cool enough to blow $6200 on?

A Japanese brewery will release a limited edition Rolling Stones whiskey to mark the band's 50th anniversary.
But hold those thoughts of getting loose with the Stones — a bottle will set you back $6200.

Suntory Liquors will produce just 150 bottles of the coveted brew. There'll be two single-malts — a 1962 variety to celebrate the year the band formed and a 1972 edition to mark the first time they used their synonymous tongue and lips logo.

Another two blended malts will mark the release of the Stones'1972 album Exile on Main St and the band's first trip to Japan in 1990.

The hard stuff will come in a bottle shaped in the Stones' tong

I'm with you Sioux/Philgood, what do the Japanese know about Whiskey?????? all oriental people turn a shade of purple when they drink alcohol, it's in their make up, or has anybody ever noticed that? At Xmas where I work they had a party & a lot of the orientals wouldn't drink & those that did turned that color.

The Rolling Stones are celebrating their 50th anniversary of rocking and rolling, and they will commemorate the occasion with an extremely limited edition whisky created by Japanese distiller Suntory Liquors. The beverager is releasing only 150 bottles of a malt created from the year the Stones formed. That means it's really limited edition.

The press release describes the blend as "slightly bitter with a velvety smooth mouth feel and an aftertaste of pleasant woodiness." Sounds delish. Get your drink on, right?

It will be contained in a crystal bottle with the band's signature lips + tongue logo.

Someone ought to tell the folks at Suntory that the lips and tongue logo was first introduced on Sticky Fingers in 1971.

Hence their 1972 blend is a year late. :wtf3

Unless it's calculated using Stones time, when "established 1962" means you celebrate you Golden Anny in 2013 :nooslajaleisk
