Did anyone see this interesting item?
http://www.rollingstones.com/release/ballads-part-1/ Also, I've noticed several spelling mistakes throughout the updated site. What do the rest of you fans think of the updates? |

It looks really nice and all, but as is often the cae with them official sites: it lacks that certain spark that would really make it come alive. The possibilities are endless, but they would have to make an effort.

I don't think Loving Cup can be. considered as a ballad. . :-/

Is it an actual release? Looks more like it's just a playlist. It lists it as 'July 2012'- if it was an album release out this month, they'd have announced it several weeks in advance. When you click on the 'albums', there appears to be snippets of each song from each album (even long deleted compilations). Even the 'Ballads' playlist just contains snippets. This I find a bit odd. http://www.rollingstones.com/release/12th-july-1962/ It's a nice feature, but an odd choice of photo, which sort of implies it's taken at their first show, which it most definitely is not. Anything's better than the Ultrastar official site. No doubt when there's a bit more activity to report and more releases, there'll be more content. Its good that theyve decided to put some kind of focus on the band's music for a change, so as to encourage people to buy that instead of prioritising merchandise. |

I think it's odd whatever this "playlist" idea is. It could very well look like a new release to the casual fan. We know it's not a release, but somebody out there is probably on Amazon looking for it right now!

Probably meant as an 'introduction' to the band's music for the 'casual' fan.
A way to encourage them to investigate the back catalogue a bit further. Maybe they'll do similar themes on rockers, blues songs, reggae, etc. |

I think it is quite a nice list...except Loving Cup is a bit out of place...
Shoulda had Worry About You...or Emotional Rescue for the stretch |

There'll be another career-spanning compilation - released by Universal - in or around November to supersede the deleted '40 Licks'.
'Stones 50' seems to be the working title. It'll be released in multiple formats, one of which will include a DVD. Whether the DVD is a collection of promos, live footage or a documentary I dont know. There is, as we know, a career spanning documentary in the works which should be available in a couple of months. |

I'd be happy with 50 songs on dvd. Totally remixed & digitally touched up.
