Title: Fomer Fleetwood Mac member found dead Post by mojoman on Jun 7th, 2012 at 4:33pm (06-07) 13:56 PDT Nashville, Tenn. (AP) -- Nashville police say Bob Welch, a former member of Fleetwood Mac who also had a solo career, has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 65. Police spokesman Don Aaron said Welch was found dead by his wife with a chest wound at their Nashville home around 12:15 p.m. Thursday. Welch was a guitarist and vocalist for Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974. He formed the British rock group Paris in 1976, and had hits including "Sentimental Lady" in 1977 and "Ebony Eyes" in 1978. Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham did backing vocals on "Sentimental Lady." Aaron said Welch apparently had had health issues recently. He said a suicide note was left |

Very sad, I loved his "Sentimental Lady" it always stood out to me, so sad that people have to end their lives this way, R.I.P. Bob.

Yes, really sad. I was shocked when I read the news....:( Evidently he's had health problems. But so sorry it had to end this way---he was young. :(

I hope it was a life threatening illness and not depression... if the quality of life is gone, go on... but if he was just sad and needed help, that really sucks!

Bob stewarded the band through extremely turbulent waters and was a key contributor to three top notch albums: Future Games, Bare Trees, and Mystery to Me. Which of course were all but forgotten when the Buckingham/Nicks band went intergalactic.
Everyone who doesn't already own them should pick them up for Bob's family. It will be money well spent, I promise you. RIP |

Saw the Mac on the "Heroes Are Hard to Find" tour (Bob Welch's last tour with the group); great show. I enjoyed his era, if not as much as the Peter Greene days.
sad. :sad Brainy |
