Title: Re: Jack White Album Blunderbuss Post by Ian Billen on Apr 17th, 2012 at 4:13pm I'm a fan of Mr. Jack White, and was ESPECIALLY a fan of The White Stripes. Not a cray-big fan of his other projects entirely (though those projects are not entirely bad at all). The Dead Weather is alright. Wondering how this new album is? How do you rate it? Ian |

Here is the first single from the album, which I like quite a bit:

I've listened to the first two tracks alot... first one is good missing pieces has more of a Racontuers feel than Stripes, the second one rocks the most... sixteen saltines, may be the biggest rocker on the record!
I'm probably going to do a bit of comparing... I really like how he has a a female doing backing vox all over the record... someone said it was very leonard cohen inspired... so far so good... I think Stones fans should enjoy this record a lot. |

_______________________________________ Ya... I mean I could see why someone would like The Racs and all (more of an personal preference is all) but I personally much preferred The White Stripes. Your right, The Stripes had a certain ripping, explosive sound. The Racs music was styled and ran a bit differently... and it comes down to opinion. So many friends of mine really liked The Racs but I liked The Stripes. As well, I liked Megs drum sound. Both acts were interesting, I will give it that. Ian |

Excellent album...reminds me a lot of Led Zep 3 though...I guess there are worse things than that ;-) If you're Jack White you can get away with it, but not if you're Kingdom Come and German (?).

My favorite project of his is still the Greenhornes.

What I meant was that I prefer The Greenhornes over The Raconteurs. Jack White wasn't in the Greenhornes, but I do associate him with 'em. But yeah, it wasn't a project of his, my mistake. |

gotcha... I like em both... The one time I saw The Racs was pretty amazing, it was just after the first album had come out... it was a pretty amazing show. There's a lot of really talented people swirling around Jack, they are drawn to him or he knows them when he see's them... regardless, he brings out the best in them... IMO! |

First project associated with Jack to hit #1 ever. (The Stripes' Icky Thump made #2).
I'm enjoying this album a lot, more than I thought I would. The riff on the second cut is a very close variation to the version of the Who's I'm Free on the Tommy soundtrack. |

Looks like my message didn't make it the other day. Excellent album, very eclectic, good songs, good production, guitars, what more could you ask for? I guess the only problem is that it sounds a tad like Led Zep III but there are worst comparisons.
