Title: Why Leonard Cohen is cooler than me
Post by MrPleasant on Mar 17th, 2012 at 12:33pm
He wears black.

He wrote Avalanche (one of Nick Cave's favorite songs, I think)

He's a monk. (Right?)

He told Robert Altman that he didn't like one of 'em movies.

He had poetry books of him published.

He sang The Partisan.

Cooler than any of us because he came up with my favourite description of Bob Dylan - 'the Picasso of Song'

..and because he pulled Rebecca de Mornay in the early 90s when she was at her hottest and despite the fact that he was about sixty at the time.

There is no shame in not being as cool as Leonard Cohen; as Gazza notes, none of us is.  Just be thankful if you're cool enough to dig him; and rejoice if you're cool enough to have seen him live.

Not only Mr Cohen is cooler than me, so is everyone else in the picture, in fact, I'd like to think I would'nt freak-out if I every got to be even Meet one of them. Keith in a Limo slowly , with the famous Skull ringed  finger out the nearly closed window, passed me after a Stones concert and he point at me, just pointed at me, acknowledging my appreciation, After I yelled Thank You, great show, to him and I've really never been the same, in a way. One of the reasons I'm a Keith fan!
He actually acknowledge me a fan! :wtf1
Keith Richards is Mr Rock and Roll Period. I said it
now let the beatings begin.
He's the cool one!
No disrespect for Sir Mick.........
Bill and/or
Of Course Charlie..............Whom I have all the respect for, and deserving a person I've never met can earn!

Cool pics, that looks like Boston Harbour in the header pic, so I guess these were taken before/after the Boston library gig. Any info on that? Also, KEEF needs a hat! All the older dudes look good wearing hats, and I guess KEEF ditched the bandana/hair dangling look for a simpler, more distingushed look. Paul Simon could use a hat too!

Leonard Cohen announces 2012 tour dates

Leonard Cohen has revealed that he will be touring his latest album, 'Old Ideas', later in the year.

Cohen will play shows in Europe and then North America in the autumn, but so far only the European dates have been revealed, reports Rolling Stone. As yet, no plans for UK shows have been announced.

The European leg of the tour kicks off on August 12 in Ghent, Belgium before shows in Ireland, France, Italy, Denmark and Spain, finishing up on October 7 in Lisbon, Portugal. The tour includes two shows at Dublin's Imma on September 11 and 12.
Leonard Cohen released 'Old Ideas' in January of this year. It followed 2004's 'Dear Heather', and is his 12th studio album since 1967.
Leonard Cohen will play:
Ghent St. Peter's Square (August 12, 14)
Copenhagen Rosenborg Castle (25)
Aalborg Molleparken (26)
Bergen Bergenhus Festning-Koengen (28)
Gothenberg Tradgardsforeningen (31)
Helsinki Sonera Stadium (September 2)
Berlin Wuhlheide (5)
Monchengladbach Hockey Field (6)
Dublin Imma (11, 12)
Verona Arena (25)
Paris Olympia (28, 29, 30)
Barcelona St. Jordi (October 3)
Madrid Palais Desportes (5)
Lisbon Pavilhao Atlantico (7)

Nice! Gent must be the town if Dutch dates aren't added. I missed the opportunity to see the previous tour, so I was affraid fXcked up my last chance to see a Cohen show.

Plenty of gaps there for more shows. I'd imagine the Dutch shows will be just after Ghent and the UK dates just after Dublin.
