I imagine most here have had long hair at one point or another.
As such, I wanna ask: I just got a haircut a month ago. I was going for an old fashioned hairstyle: The long on top and sides, short on the lower end of the sides and back look, slicked back--The sort of look that was popular from the 30s through the 70s. Presidents Lyndon Johnson and Nixon had the same sort of hairstyle. In the back it is cliped short, but it's sort of layered in a way. It's short to the very "hairline" of the back of the neck. But my bangs when allowed to hang forward, they are about even with my eyes and the upper sides are just over the top of the ears. But as I said, the back is pretty much cropped short. The back is only about 3 inches longer than the bangs.

How long would it take for it to get at least chin or shoulder length from now without tampering?
Also, any hair care recommendations to increase body and speed up growth? Any hair styling recommendations in the meantime while it grows?

It's sort of like this when pushed back, so imagine these guy's hair if the top and sides were allowed to hang down:
