Imagine that crowd at a Stones gig now.

These days the fans are more likely to riot if someone bumped into them and spilled their Perrier or if they brushed against their souvenir bobblehead doll.

Gazza... Is there any footage of the Belfast show at the Ulster Hall ended the same way a week earlier?

Never seen anything. Just photos. It lasted eight minutes. There were girls carried out in straightjackets.  They played a show in Ballymena (unusual choice for a gig, right in the 'bible belt'!) later that night and it passed off without incident.

THAT Belfast show came seven days after the infamous Blackpool riot when Keith kicked a drunken Scotsman in the face for spitting at them and the Stones ended up with all their equipment destroyed apart from a cymbal. Oddly enough, I used to work with a woman who was at both shows - she happened to be in Blackpool on holiday and went to the gig there.

With the Belfast, Blackpool and Scheveningen gigs, it seemed like a fun fifteen days.

Looks like the Stones' fans in Scheveningen-Holland in 1964 already 'invented' stage-diving.......

grt,

"Charlie Is My Darling" had footage from a short Irish Tour, was that Belfast?

Dublin and Belfast. 3rd and 4th September 1965. Two shows each day.  There's no 'live' music in it, though. All the music is by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. The footage of them arsing around in the hotel bar is definitely from Belfast as is the clip of them running across a railway track.

The Stones played Belfast three times - July '64, January '65 and September '65. Think They played Dublin on the last two occasions as well and visited Cork in January 1965 too.

The only shows anywhere in Ireland since were the two Slane Castle shows (1982 and 2007) which is nearer Drogheda and about 20 miles from Dublin and the two indoor shows at the Point Depot in Dublin in September 2003.

the '82 show was my first Stones gig.
