Title: If The Stones Tour.... Post by StonesFan1990 on Feb 15th, 2012 at 9:26am
Do you think Bill and Mick Taylor were at least guest at some shows? I would imagine this tour, being their 50th and given their ages, would be the last, so why not reunite the band? Have the lineup be like:
Mick Keith Ronnie Mick Taylor (Ronnie and Mick could trade off spots for the night) Bill Charlie with the usual sidemen. Or, if Bill can't come along, put have Mick Taylor & Keith on guitar and Ronnie on bass. He and Mick T. could switch off nigh by night or song by song on the bass--Like one night/song Mick T would be on bass and Ronnie would be on guitar, and then switch, etc. It's just if this is the last one, since these guys are all alive and generally well, might as well pull out all the stops. |

Bill would be a casual participant and maybe only play part of each show?....Darryl needs to be involved...we need at least one Jones///right??

Bill wouldn't be able to do it fully though, he fears flying. That means no Bill for any American shows. I'd love if they dispensed with Darryl for their 50th and likely final tour. Just have Ronnie and Mick Taylor alternate on bass, both are good enough at bass. |

put Bill on a boat to the US and let them play long stands in major cities like Chicago.....give Daryll a tambourine and pay him....

One bonus to having Mick Taylor on board is you wouldn't need Blondie Chaplin. It'd be more authentic too. I've never liked Darryl on bass. He's so mediocre compared to Bill.

WOW. I can understand wanting Bill on board for number of reasons, but Darryl's "mediocrity" isn't one of them. He's a world class player, hand-chosen by Mr. Charles Watts, and he cut his teeth with MILES DAVIS. I was just watching the Zilker Park show from "The Biggest Bang", and Darryl's intro to "Under My Thumb" is SWEET. |

Daryryl's biggest problem is he's not Bill. Chuck Leavell's biggest problem is that he's not ian Stewart. Ronnie Wood's problem is that he's not Mick taylor....Some people just can't let go of the past. |

Daryll is a great musician but he is a bad fit for the Stones....Bill played more interactively than Daryll does. Chuck is a great (and hand picked by Stu) player but I prefer an all English Stones..they simply sound better to me when the bands all british..thus the return of MAC and Bill would suit me best..just an opinion of course

Are you British? Chuck & Darryl arent offiially Stones because they are not British, only hired hands that can be replaced. I love Ian MacLagan but MICK doesnt get along with him very well, because he and RONNIE always got themselves into trouble together. So MICK thought it was in the bands best interest to use Chuck who is more straight laced. As far as Darryl goes, at first I was mad that they picked him to replace BILL but after listening to him, I dig his style and respect his talents. Darryl is also black, which I think appeals to MICK/KEEF since he has roots in blues and jazz and makes the band more funky. One thing that always puzzled me, since the Stones get their roots from old time black musicians, why are there so few black Stones fans at their concerts, even in areas where there is a big black population? Black people dont relate to The Stones, but why not? |
