Yeah 5150 was good but ZZ was better, imo.

Sharp Dressed Man was better than anything Halen's ever done.

Running w/ the Bastard was good too but still.

Z.Z. Top for me, Van Halen were great for their time, their first album was a break through for the "Brown" sound, Eddie being Speedy Gonzales on guitar, but the bickering in the band were too much after the break up, it was like Peyton Place, Eddie having a Ego as big as the Grand Canyon along with David Lee Roth who copied the lead singer in Black Oak Arkansas (Jim Dandy)

Van Halen all the way. I only know 3 ZZ Top songs. Eddie was and is a sublime guitarist and one of those who can seriously lay claim to pushing things forward. His solo on Whacko's Beat It is, IMO, one of the very finest pieces of guitar wankery EVER. :)

ZZ is kinda funny and made a couple of nice tunes in the early stage of the band's career. Van Halen is/was basically a hair band. So I guess it would be better to square them off against Nelson or Poison..the bluegrass version of Jump by DLR a couple of years ago was hilarious btw.
