WOW it's just not like that anymore! Times Square is no longer X rated, in fact it's PG now with toy stores and candy shops! There is no garbage in the streets and no grafitti in the subways. The last 2 mayors Guilaini and Bloomberg have really improved and revitalized the city. There are still some poor neighborhoods but for the most part, it's cleaned up and much better than it was in the 70's when it was dirty and sleezy. Some Girls was based on the older grimy, gritty, sleezy times in the city. Always great culture, art and music, that hasnt changed.

Absolutely lovely, Bingo. Those were the days - before they turned it into Anytown, USA. Especially love the pic of the towers going up - I always remember watching them rise little by little from the end of my street. Great stuff.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I was born in 1990 and live in the Kiddy Friendly NYC of the post Giuliani era, but I actually would've preferred to live in the sleazy, seedy NYC of the 70s/80s...It had a real atmosphere and you really had to be a survivor to live here. Today it's just so bland.

Those were the days when pimps and ho's were lined up on every street corner in front of the XXX movie houses that played porn and live sex shows where you could put money in and a curtain opened and you got to watch whatever you wanted to see. Male ho's too that went both ways! Dirty minded sluts were in abundence, wierdo S&M and gay queens and trannys. Now you can barely find them on the streets, they are hidden in massage parlors and hotels where it should be. I saw way too much perversion at a very young age. Lots of runaways back then too. You dont see too many of them nowadays. There were drug dealers and addicts on the street corners and dangerous men with guns who would wait on the rooftops as look outs for the drug dealers below. Lots of gangs and shootings too. I think we're better off now.

I suppose...But you survived it. Others didn't. I think being in that place in that time bred a certain toughness into the people who survived it...And there's a reason why so many '70s films focused on NYC or were set there...It was interesting. It wasn't like a soft metrosexual paradise. I mean, OTB closed down...That's a lost NYC treasure. It also seems like the '70s in general changed everyone who lived through them more than the 60s. I look at my grandpa, for example. He worked all over NYC in the 60s-1973 and up to the early 70s was a clean cut, conservatively dressed kind of guy. Come the '70s and he's wearing big collared shirts, bellbottoms, long sideburns and a mustache. And this was a guy who turned 50 in 1970. Or my step-grandpa. Turned 53 in 1970 and he wore even longer sideburns, shirts with poka dots on them, etc. It was a decade where you could listen to all sorts of music and wear any sort of clothes you wanted and wear your hair anyway you wanted really without much outcry. It seemed to be a much more free time. And everyone was dirty and sleazy, from the local NYC PDs to the Nixon White House...Really, gritty decade. And there's sometimes a beauty in grit. It was the era of Exile on Main St...Everyone was an Exile On Main St. in the early-mid '70s.

We're so young and pretty, we're so young and clean
So many things that we have never seen
Let's move from Ohio, sell this dam' old store
Big Apple dreamin' on a wooden floor

Skyscrapers and subways and stations
Staring up at the United Nations

New York is waiting for you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down
New York, we're coming to see what you're made of
Are you as great as you sound

Heard about them massages, and all those dirty shows
I read somewhere some places never close
While we waste time on yokels, comin' through the door
Big Apple dreamin' on a wooden floor

Skyscrapers and subways and stations
Staring up at the United Nations

New York is waiting for you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down
New York, we're coming to see what you're made of
Are you as great as you sound

New York is waiting for you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down
New York, we're coming to see what you're made of
Are you as tough as you sound

Oh, New York is waiting for you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down, whoo-oo
New York, we're coming, to see what you're made of
Are you as tough as you sound

Yeah, New York is waiting, baby
Waiting to swallow us down,
New York, we're coming, see what you're made of
You can't be as tough as you sound

Oh, New York, you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down,
New York, we're coming see what you're made of
Are you as great as you sound

Oh, New York, Oh, New York we're coming
Oh, we're coming to see what you're made of
Oh, you can't be as tough as you sound
Me and my baby, we're coming
Oh, we're coming

They're waiting for you and me, baby
Oh... (Fading out dialog)

" For Your Life-Led Zep rehearsal before 2007 O2 show. "

Cool !!!!

Thanks Bingo    ---- I have been listening to those two Led Zep 2007 Surry Rehearsal soundboard discs a lot recently and I
was wondering if you have any montages to go with " Stairway to Heaven "  ?

No STH montage. I'm still trying to figure out what Stones tune will be my first video to do. The songs call me when they're ready to be done...or I'm high as a kite, whichever comes last.  :weed

I'm lazy, but when I get goin', I'm too lazy to stop.  :weed
