Title: Best Stones biography?

Outside of biographies written by band members, what are the best books about the Stones? Particularly about the period from '62 to the comeback in '89.

Stanley Booths book "True Adventures of The Rolling Stones".

If you want the early, early Stones try the following:

Our Own Story - as told to Pete Goodman
Nankering With the Stones - by James Phelge (roommate to Keith and Brian for a while)

Both are available on Amazon.

PS If you can find the first pressing of Our Own Story you'll find the best sketches of the Stones I've ever seen.

I would add "Stone Alone" and "Rolling With the Stones" by Bill Wyman

There's your answer right there. To date Booth's book is still the best one I've ever read.

Taking a skim through it, it seems to only cover up to the Taylor era....Am I wrong?
What's the opinion on Stephen Davis' "Old God's Almost Dead"?

There's Bill German's Book "Under Their Thumb" & like Voodoo mentioned, my favorite too, Bill Wyman's "Stone Alone" but Old Gods Almost dead is crap.
