Title: Hyde Park '69 question
Post by StonesFan1990 on Oct 18th, 2011 at 4:25am
Who is playing the really heavy, driving lead part on the Hyde Park 1969 version of Sympathy? I'm talking about that really, almost Heavy Metal-ish driving lead part during the verses. You can hear a fast rhythm guitar behind it (and this same, groovy sort of rhythm guitar serves as the guitar intro to the song, before the lower pitched, heavier lead takes over and carries the song)

I don't think Keith liked that either.

Hence the 73 tour.

Not that it was bad, it was just a bit over powering.

Some were saying Mick's hair at Hyde was a wig--It was short from him recently filming Performance, you recall--He has short hair in one of the scenes.

What do you mean you don't like Keith liked that, hence the '73 tour?
And is it Keith who is playing the heavier part or Mick?

Seems as if your question was answered in the very first reply - including a link to the Hyde Park performance footage.

Might want to take a look....

Bit of a mess, but i freaking love all those drummers! It was this that got me into the band. My English teacher was a fanatic and would play the super 8 of this concert all the time. 1st time we saw it, my mate and i looked at each other and that was it.

Stonesies for life!
